Ugh! Just beautiful. I love it. This is very helpful for small areas that I don’t know what to do with. The color of the siding on the cottage makes every plant stand out. Great choice !

Really liked your tour! Jealous of your Monarch caterpillars! I had some on my Milkweed. Went to show my great granddaughter and they were gone! Later I saw about 5 Bluebirds landing on the Milkweed. Little rascals I’m sure ate my caterpillars!🥹

That one shade garden with the Jacob's ladder, pulmonaria and tiarella is stunning. Who needs flowers with all that texture?

Gorgeous landscaping. At our cabin in northern MN, probably Zone -10, it’s just survival of the fittest. Wild raspberries, lupines, forget me nots. It’s amazing to see what an intentionally planted garden and yard could look like. Thank you for touring us-it’s just beautiful!

...my fave is that last bed view -- of the different hydrangeas and coneflowers. It's glorious. It seems like Rod just planted those ajugas last year; they have filled in unbelievably. All the beds are awesome, and -- in spite of the summer heat of which I'm spent 🥵 -- it's hard to believe it will be coming to an end shortly. This was a nice tour, Heidi, of some beautiful stuff. 👌🤗❤️ (from 👩🏼‍🌾💚 =^..^= [MD 6b])

My flower beds look just like yours , just a mash up bunch of single plants because of deer issues . It’s like a test and try and see if it’s deer resistant. There is a product called wireless fence that gives a lil zap to the deer when they are curious . It’s battery operated and it’s just a like stick that have 4 metal prongs and a deer scent in the middle to draw them in to smell and then it zaps their noses and scares them off . So far great luck with mine and I don’t have to constantly spray . Jenny from creek side was taking about it

I have not heard of it. I guess I would rather not zap them

What a wonderful tour, jam packed with great ideas for smaller areas, which is just what we have on our small property. The view of your tiered gardens from above is amazing! You must love looking on to those beds from the windows. And the view toward the water is beautiful. Thank you for this great tour, and for all the good ideas, Heidi! ❤

Your gardens are full of color and fun! I have two aralia. I like them a lot. Do you think the Cherry cordial begonias are deer proof? I’d like to try them next year.
@gardencrossings

We have Cherry Cordial in this garden and there are certainly deer in the garden and in the area. We have not had issues with the deer eating on them I am not saying deer proof, but in my experience they have not touched them...yet

I am so tired of spraying and/or covering my plants because of deer and rabbits, but mostly deer. I have decided to get rid of the most onerous offenders, lilies first, and then hosta. I hate to do this because they were lovely, expensive and fit the spots so beautifully that they were in, but there is no way I can continue to fight the deer. I can’t win, period. There are plants they don’t eat and I’m focusing on those. I’m replacing the hosta with hellebores come this November. I just purchased 9 allium plants and will start to take out the lilies. I think butterfly bushes are safe and my Pugster blues are new this year, dwarf, and untouched by deer. Your home is just so lovely and deer are so destructive. Hope the Bobex continues to work. I will give it a try on some plants I’m keeping that they are eating but not devouring, like my Sugar Tip rose of Sharon. Hope you get to spend more time in that lovely setting.
