Don't forget these guys are the teenagers of the 70's who started this great tradition! Easy to mock when we are young, but time goes by incredibly fast, they are remembering and having a great time!!!

it's not a case of remembering my friend. It's the fact that they can't & never will forget. If this world turns for another 100 million years, there will NEVER be another musical phenomenon as big & time tested as Northern Soul

Yes Joan. Agree 100%. I was one of them. Don’t really miss it as I still play the music. Remember all the DJs - Glenn, Delbert, Rich etc etc - still have the vinyl - 7” originals and dub versions. Love it 😊

Thanks for posting. I'm an American trying to learn Northern Soul dancing. KZfaq videos that focus on dancers in full length that don't jump cut around every 2 seconds are great. I will be studying the "footage" very carefully. All the best, Gottlieb

When I recovered from an illness that caused me to loss weight, I realized I was back to my 70's weight. I immediately went shopping on Ebay for the 70's fashion clothes and shoes. Now I have a vintage collection and my wife wears a big smile.

Remember it`s all about the music and having fun . Regardless of age or anything else we`re all a long time dead. KTF ALWAYS.

NORTHERN SOUL which was a collection of rare soul records from all over the u.s that where overlooked by big record labels which as a result made the music wider known but if your not from the uk prodomently northern england you wouldnt know this! we had clubs built on rare soul. so all in all it was and still is a great scene with great music and great people. So mr " i know everything about soul" do some research

Fair play to the capturing of many of the participating individuals soul on a dance floor. How else do we get a new breed of floorfillers if you don't promote the best of what we have? I'm 19 clem and can still make some moves for a fat fella. Rare is great, but won't get a new generation. We keep the faith, but we must also educate a wanting generation; share your experiences and dance like there is nobody watching. Keep the faith!

I don’t think the Wigan casino was closed because they wanted to build an extension, I think they closed it to deliberately get rid of the dance hall so all the the young northern soul people had nowhere to go. So the movement would stop.

It is a sort of disco'd version of Betty Wright's, "Tonight is the Night". It was a song she composed based on her own life experience as a teen. She was a great one from the 70's. Hearing that song brought back a lot of fond memories for me growing up in the 70's. She'd have to be in her 60's now, I do believe.

I love this music, but the dancing is so weirdly anglo. I know this is a cultural phenomenon, but I don't get the whiteness of the moves to this music. It's funny how white people always regiment everything into little, precise treasures of movement. Kind of makes me want to watch a Soul Train line dance or the WattStax documentary. I guess this is how people in Manchester get down.
@57dogsbody10 жыл бұрын
Oh you are so right. But it didnt use to be like this back in the early 70`s, man you should have seen the dancers bak then, it would have blown your mind! Lots of black cats used to go back then as well. Now I`m sad to say you are watching a bunch of middle aged people doing some sad generic steps; so depressing when I remember 1000 cool people just tearing the house down.I dont want to watch this shit, i prefer my memories.
@stevemaggers490010 жыл бұрын
57dogsbody At the end of the day and despite your own personal memories which is irrelevant to those dancing these people are enjoying themselves dancing to music they love. That's all it is. Pure enjoyment. Always dance like nobody is watching.
