After the PAC failed to takeover North Africa, a lull between both it and the European Union commenced, as both sides sought to regroup and replenish their existing armies. As the EU began putting together plans to retake Europe, both sides would fight to control islands on the other side of the globe in the Pacific Ocean.

Note: The specific details of the battles themselves are just my opinion since battles in a multiplayer game play out differently every time. However, the canonical victors of the battle can (most of the time) be determined by the information given during the loading screens for each map.

@@jeremyh6686 I wasn't a developer at DICE or anything, I was just a 17 year old back then with a crappy computer and a level editor that was made for Battlefield 2 but people kinda made for Battlefield 2142 work somehow. But feel free to ask and maybe I can answer some questions.

@@janlaureys9 not sure if you'd have the answers to this but the main questions are is there a specific reason the single player/instant action mode was limited to the small version of each map and was an offline progression system ever considered for the game hind sight is 20/20 but I find it strange that DICE didn't seem to have any plans for trying to keep the game playable after the inevitable end of the online servers

@@jeremyh6686 thats because the navmesh system for bots cant handheld land / water properly. In bf2 bot cant drive bots on beach and just jump out like real players. Modder and mappers of the community have got the same problem trying to navmesh 64 players of maps.

Again, great work with the Battlefield 2142 game coverage. Its lore is interesting being both futuristic and sci-fil making it a great complement to the command and conquer series.

This game just hits the nostalgia button so hard. First game my dad ever bought me for my new PC back in 2006. Dice needs to stop pandering to new players and re-imagine this on new tech. The New Dice are Competent after the turn around 2042 has had since the old team left.

What happened with 2042? I'm completely out of the series since my EA boycott and I mostly heard some sort of drama about BF5 but I have no idea where the series is at right now. I'm surprised EA never made a C&C battlefield. I know there was a C&C shooter canceled with some elements but I'm thinking more something like this or even Planetside in regards to scale. 2142 was already pretty similar in regards to the tech level.

@@Dark__Thoughts The old Dice team went hard on the "If you don't like our game, It's your fault. not ours" that they had on Battlefield 5. 2042 released and it was more like an arena hero shooter. Now most of the old team have left and the new Dice devs have turned it into a really good battlefield game.

Are you gonna do more Battlefield in the future? I'd be interested to see what kind of story you'd come up with for Battlefield 2 since that involves a 3 way war between the U.S., China, and a Middle Eastern Coalition with the European Union later getting involved. And of course the stuff from the Special Forces expansion and the two booster packs.

I don't have any plans to do more Battlefield stuff after this tetralogy of videos. Just wanted to try and shine a light on 2142 since it's one of the more underrated and least known Battlefield games. Also the only one that's fully within the realm of sci-fi, since the other battlefields are either historical, modern or near-future settings. The other issue I've noticed with covering modern warfare type settings in games is that the KZfaq algorithm sometimes doesn't understand context. So I'd be concerned about any new BF2 videos being caught in the crosshairs of the algorithm and getting suppressed; mistakenly thinking I was referring to a real life war.

excellent work as always just one thing - can you please keep in the map previews for each battlefield? just for few seconds. I am having problems with geometry visualization in my brain (orientation issue) and I can't really visualize how the maps look by myself. 😀

Molokai could have taken place either before or during the Northern Strike. The only date associated with the map is 2145 More specifically, the Intelligence Report for the map says "In the early years of 2145, Earth was freezing rapidly." The words "early years of 2145" doesn't make any sense and in my opinion is a typo. It would make more sense for it to say "early months of 2145." Early months are usually considered to be January, February, March and April. So that would mean the battle would have to have taken place either before or during the Northern Strike battles of Port Bavaria and Remagen.

thanx for posting, lots of memories. spent so much time on those battlefields. back in the day, i bought BF2 so i could learn the keyboard and be able to play BF2142 when it came out 6 months later. played until there were no more servers. BF2, and BF2142 were awesome. i wish elon musk would sponsor a server and host them for free, for us older guys just because. i can dream

There are a couple of servers that the Reclamation community keeps up and running for the game. They have a website you can look up that includes instructions on how to set up the game and play on their servers. Though obviously not near as many people play on them compared to the game's heyday.

Bridge at remagen is after the Liberation of Leipzig.

Not according to the Intelligence Report during the map loading screens, which is where I got the information from. It says that Bridge at Remagen takes place on March 7, 2145. Liberation of Leipzig takes place that same year but in the late summer, which means it would have to take place in August. So Remagen had to occur before Leipzig.

I've heard that BF 4 and BF 2042 are loosely related to 2142, or at least have easter eggs hinting at a connection. If that's true, could we see a return to this setting?

They could be. I know there was that Final Stand dlc for BF4 which had hover tanks, assault pods. As well as a titan and battlewalkers being built on one of the maps. I haven't played BF 2042, but it seems like it retconned that dlc, since none of those weapon systems in Final Stand appear in 2042 at all. But like I said, I could be wrong since I haven't played 2042 or looked into its story/lore.

BF4s last dlc Final Stand establishes the beginning of the PAC. Giants of Karelia for example is a fight over what is revealed to be the early walker prototypes in 2142. It also has a PAC logo visible in places within the facility. Hangar 18 is actually the location of the first Titan prototype. Whiteout is the early production/research facility for hover tank prototypes. It should also be noted that 2042 sort of destroyed the ability for 2142 to even happen as Europe basically imploded in the backstory of 2042. They have added a railgun weapon that is akin to what is seen in 2142 though.

@@thirstyserpent1079 so BF 4 was toying with the idea of connecting to 2142, and BF 2042 just scrapped it? Not that they need those games to all connect if they ever did. I just remeber people being excited by the PAC easter eggs in 4, so made me wonder if we will see a return to 2142

@@Darkfire7881 Currently I can't say if they plan a new 2142, but 4 did start to lay the foundation for it. However they decided to do bf5 after which was a disaster, then 2042 which was also a disaster. Should also be noted that 2142 had an ice age theme and we don't really see much in the way of early ice age in 2042, it should be noted however that in certain versions of 2142s intro they show the ice creep south and it starts accelerating southward in 2112 AD.

You can look up Battlefield 2142 Reclamation in google. They have a hub that you can download that will allow you to play on one of their EU or US servers. But for these videos I just downloaded a couple of single player mods that add 64 player bots to the maps.
