We had a hilarious time with UNI (The GOASTT) when we interviewed them down in Boise, Idaho during Treefort Music Fest. Kemp, Nico, and David describe the circuitous quest one must undertake to discover their new releases, as well as recommending some brilliant music! The most fun we've had on an interview in years!

Great quips, recommendations, and jokes, but love Uni's music even more! My expeditionary group found you, Uni, in a meteor debris and penguin droppings field in Antarctica. It was worth the hunt

I lived the 1960s and 1970s...as a child songwriter musician......These cool cats have that era down.... I dig it.... I really do....

It was so much fun to meet UNI. They were happily walking around Boise in full stage wear and having a laugh with us. Great band, great people! Any you're right, they nailed down their style and era.

It was hilarious to walk thru the streets of Boise with Uni, as they were so remarkable in their stage gear yet so casual to hang out and talk music. I laughed aloud almost continuously as we were shooting this interview. Sad to see Nico is no longer with the group. Thanks for watching!

My 1970s band...we called ourselves ..Friedchicken...originals and cover songs ...then new members in 1981 .I wrote twenty albums of originals for us...from 1981 thru 1984.... Capitol EMI almost signed us until they saw our Hispanic last names and sent us to LATINO division where they said our music wasnt for Latino market..OUCH...That ended that....Hector and Hermes are dead and the drummer LALO is retired and faded off.....Its just me... now....I like some of these new bands.... Uni.... nice vibe

We`ve had over 30 years of knucklehead cliche rappers spewing their tedious bile since the 1980s-90s....we definitely need a new generation of pop/rock stars bringing some fun and fantasy to our lives now more than ever.

The mood of this shoot was one of hilarity, I know I was laughing behind the camera for almost the entire interview. The joke is off colour but it's still funny. That's kinda how humour works.

RIML_TV It's funny I suppose if you're a member of the Manson family. Good grief the guys child died. How about a modicum of respect. Off colour? Tell me that when someone is making fun of the death of one your kids. Then we will see how "off colour" it is.

@5:16 Pretty annoying that Charlotte mentions "she's so heavy" and then jokes she doesn't know it's The Beatles. Like really? Really? And then David Strange chimes in it was a "one-hit wonder." A short aside: Doesn't David Strange seem like one of those people that was born a has-been? He certainly "has-been" riding coattails for a while now. I hope he reads this (understands what I mean) and then slowly--because that's the only way he processes information--realizes that what I just said is 100% truth. Because it is. Anyways, back to the matter at hand. So the interviewer clearly isn't "in" on the joke. Seems like he might not know the song. In any case, he certainly doesn't know the connection. What connection do I speak of? Glad you asked. Charlotte is (was?) dating Sean Lennon, son of the late John Lennon--you know, the guy who's crooning his ass off on "she's so heavy." The band seems pretty glib at this "one-hit wonder" joke, which is in pretty poor taste... Especially because--oh the irony--Sean Lennon's label is funding this shit show. As for the actual music of the band. You can spare me the "you-don't-know-what-good-taste-is or the you-didn't-even-listen-to-them" bullshit. I've listened to all their music. And here's the long and short of it. It's not good. It's not God-awful. But it's really not good. It's mostly rehashed Glam Rock in the worst way. It's also a lot of style over substance--which I get if you have to promote a band--but still, we can do better. We can do much, much better. And then there's that name--Uni. Is it a noun? A verb? The obvious choice: an ambiguous prefix? Perhaps it's just supposed to be singular, subtle, and hell, subversive. What does it really mean? Not sure. And I'm 1000% sure they don't either. All I know is that they all sound like a bunch of people that--ironically... never spent a day in Uni. WHEW, THAT WAS A LOAD OFF MY CHEST. Now gonna go cry at the state of rock music at the moment.

Amazing reply, appreciate the time taken. Of course the moment you're speaking of was entirely played for comedy. Charlotte was being cheeky and Charles missed the first cue so they played it harder. No offense was offered or intended I would suggest, everything done to be entertaining and play to the camera. You interpretation of their music is your own, I can't speak to that, but as people go I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and had a laugh walking around the streets of Boise with them in their full stage wear. RE Greta Van Fleet: I'm old enough to have lived through life with Led Zeppelin as a kid, but I agree with you, they're a good band. To my ear at least, their roots are still showing a little too blatantly but it's fun to hear a band actually rock n' rollin again. mrh

Yo buddy- Sean doesnt pay for ANY of Uni- i pay for it myself. Also, i was *joking* about not knowing the name of the Beatles, they are obviously the coolest band ever and that’s why it is too obvious to be like “oh check out the beatles”, especially if you’re in my position of association. Try having a sense of humor and not being such a judgmental prick. Im really sick of the world thinking sean pays for everything or writes everything. He has nothing to do with this project and I work my ass off so thanks for the vote of confidence. Cant wait to see what art you’re making or what good you’re doing for the world besides the stellar job of trolling you’ve been doing. Have a nice life. 👍🏼

This is so pretentious only wealthy people can come up something like this. I really wanted to like this band but damn no humility. Starting a rock band is clearly something only wealthy people can persue.

@@mjh5437 OP is right. Same reason they shipped out the good singer, shot a 4k video for their newest trash single. They come off as Hollywood bubble elitist now.
