The swirling is called scumbling and it is a blending technique used to hide lines in brush strokes. This is particular useful for painting with a square brush.

I did the EXACT same thing with my temple of Anubis diorama a few weeks ago... coated the entire thing in black mod podge only to then paint every square inch of that beast light tan. Half way through I was like hmmm, I probably could have just used tan mod podge... Anyways, another great video as usual!

I am still amazed how in each of your videos you start the build, and my reaction is "How the heck is this going to work?" then by the time you're done I'm blown away with how great they look and how intricate the details can be. Thank you for the mini lesson on alcohol and glue in this video. It never occurred to me before why you do it, but explaining it now it makes complete sense. Great job!

@@NorthoftheBorder Ah, a true artist. I do the same thing myself with digital art, delete entire layers because they didn't work as I expected, and never let anyone know they existed. It may still look terrible at the end, but they will never know how bad it could have been. :P

What sets your videos apart from other similar crafting channels are your hilarious sound and camera effects! You really add a lot of humor into something that can be mostly technical and dry. I love how before all the detail goes on, the bare project literally just looks like a 5 year glued some foam together in random places. Real professional stuff over here. (Just to be clear, I couldn't even get that far, so it's still impressive, and then becomes even more impressive with the actual detail)

Anything I make is in 28-32mm scale normally for DnD so it's nice to see awesome builds like this to inspire me to mix it up. Especially since I'm wanting to start making dioramas the smaller scale will be a nice change of pace. Good work as always! Keep it up

I've started making DnD scaled things recently and quite like having a normalized scale to work on! But yes, it's nice to be able to hide mistakes and details because "it's small scale so no one will notice it". I think whatever scale this is would be is my preferred size.

If it helps, the alcohol improves your karate too (or, much like dancing, it improves how well you *think* you do it)

very nice!! I use hot glue and go back over with the tip for bark texture on wire trees. Hides the wire a lot better
