The Northrock XCF00 26 inch Fat Tire Bike from #Costco is super cheap BUT it's surprisingly well engineered and built. For $600 you will have a hard time finding a better fat bike for your money.
The aluminum alloy frame is on the heavy side at 35.2 pounds but you will appreciate the weight while riding over ice or through snow. The geometry of the frame makes for a surprisingly comfortable riding position for both short and tall riders.
The Shimano Altus shifting components are adequate and stand up to long term use well without needing constant adjustment.
The Tektro disc brakes are horrible and need constant adjustment. They squeak and squeal and create rolling resistance even after 800km but they do provide strong stopping power. We found them to be bad on both of our bicycles.
The Kenda Gigas tires are amazing on ice and even through moderately deep snow (up to 6 inches). They work well in all conditions and offer low rolling resistance on dry trails and pathways which is a huge plus.
The Velo seat is great, no saddle sores even after 2 hour rides.
All in all the Northrock XCF-00 Fat Tire Bike from Costco is a great deal at $600 and we were surprised to find a bike of this quality there. We have seen other bikes from Northrock at Costco in the past but a quick look over and it was obvious they were of very poor quality.
These bikes sold out extremely fast so if you see one and are wanting a great bicycle act quickly.
