How do dogs and cats react to an optical illusion? We offered our dogs and cats to walk on different mats with an optical illusion. The dogs were overcoming an optical black hole. Then our huskies walked along a curved corridor. We also invited our friend's adorable baby and dog to test them on optical illusions. It was a fun experience. Perhaps we will repeat something similar in the future with our dogs and cats.

For humans looking downward, the visual effects are greater. The cats and dogs see things at a much lower angle and don’t get the same effects.

It shows how little animals especially dogs rely on their eyes for information. They can see the hoke and illusion but can smell it as a flat surface so don't mind

They didn't seem to react differently than they would have for any new rug that suddenly appeared in their home. I don't think the optical illusion affected them at all.

They arent. Dogs are. The dogs react unsure because their owners do, they are more perceptive to danger experienced by others.

@@kenjutsukata1o1 well, sure. Cats obviously have their advantages in other areas, like stealth and sneaking. Dogs however are more perceptive in a for human useful way, like understanding social structures to a certain extend and syncing with humans.

At the beginning, you do have it faced so the camera can see the illusion, but you have the animals entering a door coming from the opposite direction so it's really not going to trick anyone that way.

@@MoonSoon24 как показали исследования, из всех этих иллюзий кошки воспринимают только внешние контуры нарисованных объектов, т.к. это связано с навыками охоты, которую кошки обычно ведут из укрытия. В частности, если на полу нарисован квадрат, то кошка охотнее всего сядет внутрь, как будто в настоящую коробку. Отсвечивание же тут вообще ни при чём.

Cats and dogs are much smarter then we give them credit for. My cat, when he was six months seen for first time in mirror, right away figured out reflection was himself. Ever since he plays a game watching me around corner through mirror and I him, he hides far enough back where I can't see him in mirror lol

The reason the cat doesn't interact much with the hole is there is nothing on the edge for him to knock off the edge.

Betcha they're not fooled because they don't rely on sight as we do. You'll notice the dogs sniff the carpet, so they're able to tell it's solid/flat via scent. Whereas the cats probably use touch via their whiskers.

Pets don't see the optical illusion, they get concerned by their human's reaction, they see how they jump and waggle then they proceed to smell or touch if something is wrong with the carpet, Once they noticed it's nothing they proceed to step on it, some carefully
