We were in Balestrand and Norway in the summer of 2018. There had been almost no rain for weeks so there were fire bans everywhere including Bergen where it rains about 290 days a year. We also took the Hurtigruten “Kong Harald” up to Kirkenes, the very top of Norway, and return which was a spectacular journey. The weather in the North was unseasonably hot at 33C for days and days (the normal summer high is 12C). Norway is spectacular.

Thanks, we were in Lofoten, was not that hot ther, but it was warmer than expected. Didn’t get as much sun as I hoped however!

We were in Balestrand for a couple of days in 2013. It rained both days and we didn't get out and explore as much as we had planned. I'm going back in May and plan to do some hiking and biking. Hope the sun shines!

Are these areas to stay over night, have a modern bathroom? Are there many of these small areas closer to Bergen or near Oslo? I planned a trip in 2016, now 2020, and the trip would have cost us $16,000!!!! That was plane tickets, business class from the midwest, three Sissel concerts, and staying in or near Bergen for about ten days. Trip was canceled bc one person’s husband became very ill and was put in hospital. Yes, Bergen is expensive!!!!! And I will no longer want to stay there bc it has been reported that a tsunami will hit Bergen soon. Scientist have been monitoring splits in the face or side of fjord slowly opening! I worry about just how much of Bergen it will destroy. Last big one was in 1937. It destroyed the town and killed many people. Thank you for the tour!

You will be able to find cabins to rent all over Norway, but of course not inside the cities. There are all categories with a lot of different standards. The best ones are equipped like a home, and they have a modern bathroom. For cheaper cabins, there will be a separate building which contains toilets, showers etc.

We've been to Balestrand in 2017 & 2018. And it is still an amazing place to see. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i86ddMyEv7i8noE.html I will return to Balestrand in 2019, just to sit down and relax, enjoying the scenery.
