The time has finally come! After much planning, preparing, dreaming and fangirling, the bucketlist destination of Norway is finally being ticked off of the list!
The plan is to head north from my home near Hamburg and catch the ferry from Hirtshals in Denmark, over to Kristiansand in Norway. From there it's just a short blast to our first accomodation at Bjønndalen Camping www.bjcamp.no.
Let the touring begin!!

Andy, I came across your videos years ago when I had my Vstrom 650, sold it and stopped watching motorcycle vids. Picked up a 2015 KTM 1290 Super Adventure and started watching your vids again. I immensely enjoy everything about your videos (except for the 360 cameras - not sure why people use them). Keep it up, good sir!

Classic early touring pose……….pull up in the shade, fall off the bike, hobble to a park bench, lay back on it. It’s gets better after 3 or 4 days ……..a liar once told me.

I know right!! I can openly share that it got gradually worse, as the trip progressed! Luckily the riding got so much more enjoyable that I didn't notice so much! But ultimately, it ended in the KTM decision!

Oh man! I can't wait for this series to continue. Norway is on my bucketlist for sure, but the prices are a bit concerning. Do you have by any chance an estimate on how much budget one should plan (per day) to have a decent time?

@@HeretiCflow i think about 12 days in Norway an about 200 to 350 km per day

For both of us, we spent about 2600€ in total. So over the 13 days that's about 200€ per day. That includes the main ferries. (We still haven't received the bills for the inland ferries as they come later, but they are probably about another 50-100€ max) So we did around 250 - 300km per day and spent 100€ each. Obviously if you were to go alone, that wouldn't mean half the cost as many of the accommodations were as basic as it got. We also didn't camp though, so more potential saving to be had there. The real secret was never eating out and never staying in an actual hotel! Plus cafes and restaurants are crazy expensive. So we made cheese sandwiches from the supermarket and had a half a ton of cereal bars! 😂

Brilliant stuff! Can see why you got the KTM now! I went to Norway in my late teens in February chasing tail, a very small place called Rena, it was so cold my nostrils froze! I am just working out that was over 20 years ago I feel depressed now

The Fjords did not disappoint! We used Fjordline. The ferry there was about about 75€ (Hirthals to Kristiansand) and the ferry back was about 200€ (Stavanger to Hirtshals) both per person. I'm planning to do an overall cost breakdown video, once I've got the series finished.

So did we!! It was very changeable though. Sometimes freezing at night, sometimes 27 degrees C in the day!

Look’s forward to this one Andy, as a matter of interest did you strap your own bike down or do the ferry crew do it ? Travelling N Ireland to Scotland the crew do it in case of any mishaps your covered by their insurance.

We actually had to strap them down ourselves Norrie. I'm hoping that the crew checked, but probably not. Good point about the insurance, didn't think about that. Especially as the guy next to ian just didn't understand the concept of strapping his bike down. If I hadn't interjected, his bike would have definitely been the top domino on an expensive pile of dominos!

Z1000SX... My dream bike of the past... But instead, I got the Versys 1000 Grand Tourer and I much liked the bike. I still regret that I sold Versys this summer. I just wanted to say that Kawasaki makes great bikes for touring.

Undoubtedly! Even my Versys 650 was a fine touring machine! If i hadn’t started enjoying the dirt, I’d seriously consider a Versys 1000.

I am curious to find out if petrol stations are far and few between in Norway? As they are one of the leading countries in the transition to EVs. I would therfore assume that there are not as many petrol stations that abound in Norway? Having said that, I am looking forward to another fantastic touring series from you.

We actually didn't really have any problems. They were well spaced and plentiful. Obviously there were a few stretches where there were less, but we just made sure to check the route beforehand and see if we were likely to get into trouble. Of course, now with the KTM, I'd probably be able to do the whole trip on one tankful!

Denmark is always the worst. High pace and boring highway. I live in Norway and skip it entirely and take the ferry straight to Kiel. Germany is worse if you choose the autobahn. But theres a million other roads you can take there. Going straight to italy and abit about when the summer holiday sets in! Have a good summer lads!!
