Welcome to my new KZfaq channel Architect Reflects! I’m excited to share my first video with you all called Floating Cabin.
Floating Cabin is a purely conceptual project that aims to start a dialog about the essence of architecture and what it means to create a feeling. The idea behind this project came from curiosity evoked by unusual structures sprawled all around Norway. As an architect, I wanted to push the boundaries of what’s possible and create something that inspires and provokes thought about what truly matters in design.
Unfortunately, nowadays, architect job way too often goes back to optimization and cost reduction that in the process simply kills the essence of architecture. Floating cabin is the response to such practice - a thought-provoking experiment where everything is possible and the only limitation is the architect’s vision.
I’m thrilled to share this project with you all. This experiment is the first project in a series dedicated to experimentation with architecture.
If you’d like to see more of my projects and follow along with my journey , please consider subscribing to my KZfaq channel Architect Reflects and following me on Instagram and LinkedIn.

One of the most emotionally stirring things I have ever known is this art. The idea of home but so intimately and intelligently integrated is the realm that escapes language but speaks volumes.

Although the black chimney seems a bit threatening to me, I love the overall concept - especially the combination of openness and width on the ground floor with the cosiness and protecion under the roof - genius!

Hej Konrad, love your thinking and how both this and Primeval Symbiosis are touching into the Way of the Spheres with at least some of their design choices, namely the leftangle, 60° triangle top on this and the use of the eighteyes ("octahedron") on the other... would love to introduce you to the frame of mind of Synergetics and the Spherical Thinking that are possible with them. I think you would be amazed what is possible... much love Struppi

Very interesting take on a classic cottage! Is the one bathroom enough for possibly 10 people living there? Yes, it is a retreat for a short time so people can deal, still I think another toilet would be good.

Greetings Conor! you're doing great, a very interesting approach. I am engaged in 3D scanning myself and I am interested in the topic of architecture, I am not an architect myself. I've had a project of a house in ktor for a long time in goa, when tenants leave for work, the house washes itself. according to the principle as in the dishwasher. accordingly, all the automation controls at this moment all the places that cannot be wetted and the mechanisms hide them. upon arrival at the house, everything goes to its former places and the house is always fresh. This concept is suitable for allergy sufferers and people obsessed with cleanliness, but I'm not sure that such a challenge can be implemented.

Hi Konrad, I sort of hang in my chair, stupefied, watching your movies. In this design, I wondered about the chimney. I have quite a large chimney myself (or had, the hearth now harbors a stove) and I learned (the hard way) such a conduct moves a lot of air. Air that should come from outside, but I'm sure you know. Other than that, I'm sold. Thanks!

Bravo! Well done. I know you are focused on the beauty/flow of the structure (and it is very nice) but it might also be nice to engage some of the sustainable aspects - eg - better chimney (energy efficiency incorporated into building), solar, or even wind....... There are chimney systems that retain more heat (vs. 18% for Fireplace). I am no expert just what I have researched a bit about those things but it might compliment your natural architectural links.

Love your channel mate, so happy I stumble across it. I like the concept of treading lightly on the landscape. I have seen a few designs recently where they used mirrored glass which allows for privacy while maintaining views. It also reflects the landscape making the structure almost disappear.

WOW... I'd move there tomorrow. Same with the desert house. Amazing. I'd like to offer one suggestion regarding the production of your video. Your music levels are way too high while you are talking. I put the subtitles on just so I wouldn't miss something. (Just a thought from a nobody who worked 10 years as an audio editor for a radio station) I look forward to seeing what other building you have designed

What would be air quality in the house in terms of particulate matter if you put that kind of fireplace? Also, the correct tilt for solar panels in Denmark is 37.5° (Spring: 37.5°, Summer: 22.5°, Fall: 37.5°, Winter: 52.5°) 60° roof is not suitable for solar panels, it's too steep.
@architectreflects
@architectreflects 9 ай бұрын
Looking at the environment around the house I do not think the house would be located in Denmark :) but rather Norway or some other country with mountains. As for the air quality I just do not know what the answer is. We were doing open fireplaces for a long time in the past and somehow they were functioning even though we are now aware of how inefficient they were compared with a closed modern fireplace.

Hmm a few questions, the chimney looks like a ships smoke stack, it will smoke, not draw and has not protective cowl on top for snow, birds, or other things entering and wont heat the home, copper would be much better, a traditional round fire box, glassed in would look stunning, be safe, heat the entire home and with a cowl draw and kept everything out...I saw no bathroom, no wardrobes or places to put items, the car is exposed to the elements and there is no point of egress other than the stairs in a fire, all homes must have a opening windows upstairs to exit....practical its not cool looking somewhat
@architectreflects
@architectreflects 9 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment and some good perspective on the project! Just to expand on a few of the things you have mentioned. The chimney would of course end up with proper technical details solving the chimney cap and crown, but it could be done within the simple geometrical shape of a cylinder. This level of detail is usually reserved for the next stages of the project. As for the bathroom, it is in one of the boxes when you enter. Here you can see some plans if you are interested: www.behance.net/gallery/169178423/Floating-Cabin .I would also use the exterior of the boxes to hang some of the clothes and place benches for shoes. However you are 100% correct, it is not fully practical. There are many things that need further consideration. To be honest it was never meant to be 100% practical, it is more of a fun experiment or a concept that will hopefully inspire some other cool projects on the way ;). Thanks anyway! it's always good to get some feedback :)
