Nosferatu Zodd was what I believed Guts would be like if he became demonized. Zodd wasn’t just another antagonist but he actually made Guts realize that there’s way bigger threats out there than just human armies fighting for supremacy. Also, he even helped Guts in one of his battles by throwing a Kushan Horseslayer sword to him that did exactly how it sounds. Zodd was a very intriguing addition to the Berserk franchise.

People often point of how Zodd is similar to Akuma from street fighter with there desire for a strong opponent. But its even more fitting since Akuma can also be taken as a what if for Ryu giving into his dark side similar to Zodd and Guts

Zodd kind of reminds me of the story of St. Christopher. St. Christopher was a foreign warrior who sought to serve the most powerful lord. He got himself into the service of a king until he found out that the king feared the devil. He tricked the king into telling him about the devil, and Christopher left the king to serve the devil. Eventually, while serving the devil, Christopher found out that the devil fears Jesus. Christopher went to try to serve Jesus but couldn't find him. He later finds a child trying to cross a river, and Christopher carried him across. That child turned out to be Jesus. The most powerful lord turned out to be in a form that appeared weak, and Christopher learned what real divine power meant. Zodd seems to want to find the most powerful fighters because he wants purpose. He's grown bored of dominating battlefields. He wants someone to follow to give him something more to live for than dispatching weaklings. That's why he serves Griffith. Griffith proved himself more powerful. This puts Zodd at the devil serving part of St. Christopher's story. Side note: St. Christopher is sometimes depicted as a dog-headed man (looking like a werewolf). This further reminds me of Zodd with his beast transformation.

We'll probably never discover the truth about Zodd and why he soldiers on like he does. There are so many mysteries within Berserk like the Skull Knight and the God Hand, and to this day they are still the greatest manga/anime mystery. What makes Zodd even more tantalising is that he's more then just a bloodthirsty warrior. I just hope we're not disappointed when everything comes to the surface.

@@justinlast2lastharder749 The sage wouldnt refer to himself as a foolish king nor would he have multiple other characters refer to him as a king by calling him your majesty. The popular theory is Void is the sage due to his appearance (being that it looks like hes been torture a lot with his skill pealed back eyes sewed shut ect) and it being heavily implied Skull Knight knew him prior to becoming a god hand member. From what we know about Gaiseric and the Sage (Which is little) it is implied Skull Knight is Gaiseric and Void is the sage especially since the blood memory. The interesting thing with Zodd his timeline doesnt make sense, has been around for 300 years or so when Skull Knight has been around for around 1000 years from what he has said. Skull Knight physically died in the berserker armor in the blood memory. So not to sure how he was aware of the berserker armor since im assuming Skull Knight had to get a different armor to hold his soul to continue fighting the god hand.

The similarities are too close between the two for it to be ignored. I speculate that their physical similarities hints toward the idea of them being related. Their physical similarities are also reinforced by fate, one is losing an eye while the other a horn - asymmetrical faces due to fighting injuries.

Because he wants to fullfill godhands prophesy/plan. This is why Zodd attacks and kills Wyald when Wyald attempts to kill Griffith. What if Zodd was once a follower, a commander like Guts, in King Gaesirc's army but he was betrayed by the King or forgotten about which is why as Apostle and as Soul-trapped in an Armor, they have a long bitter rivalry because Zodd was a commander Skull Knight forgot about in his quest. @noisemarine561
@noisemarine561 11 ай бұрын
My personal theory is that Zodd feared his old age as a warior was going to take him before a worthy oponent would best him. So he ascended to be an apostle by sacrificing someone close to him. Zodd now roams the world for countless eon seeking someone to best him. But none truly could, not even Skull Knight.
@c.galindo9639
@c.galindo9639 Жыл бұрын
I am a big time Berserk fanatic so I would say given all this information, Zodd was definitely a part of the Kushan Empire three hundred years ago and did not share any relationship with the Skull Knight who we all know was King Gaiseric whose nemesis is the Godhand: Void. Zodd most likely has a strong tie to Causality based on the role he plays as seeking the strongest as well as ensuring Causality plays out as it should, because Zodd somehow feels he will be given his satisfactory long sought after fight he wants to face. Also I do believe Zodd most likely wants to die at the hands of a worthy opponent most likely to make amends for why he became an Apostle as most likely he laments and is melancholic because what he sacrificed still haunts him and he places honor in his morality as a warrior Apostle. Some small corrections for the video would be that Guts wasn’t losing against Boscogne but was almost even with him but Guts had a slight edge as his inner monologue wondered why he felt Boscogne was a challenge but not his most difficult challenge and that he can overcome it, then he remembers Nosferatu Zodd and is assured he can overcome Boscogne but Guts’ sword breaks because it was damaged from Samson’s mace as well as facing one hundred mercenaries and being battle damaged and Guts didn’t take the time to have it repaired from that battle, although it could be argued strength wise, Boscogne and Guts (at that time) were even. Another is Wyald didn’t intend to kill Griffith but wanted to place Griffith in a difficult situation to hurry on with the Eclipse for his own survival but when seeing the Egg of the King wasn’t on Griffith’s person, Wyald was perplexed and shocked at the fact and only held Griffith up and threatened to kill him, only if any of the Band of the Hawk (or Falcon) members were to make a move to attack Wyald in his weakened state and only threatened Griffith’s life out of desperation to prolong his survival until the Eclipse was summoned, which he needed to happen as every second that passed he was getting closer to death, which he did fear. Zodd upon overseeing things took it upon himself to just kill Wyald who he saw as pathetic and despicable upon his desperation to cling to such an attempt all in order to survive, so Zodd converses with Wyald why he would try and hurry Griffith’s desperation when it is bound to happen, which then Wyald exclaims to Zodd and pleads with him that he needs to in order to survive. Zodd knowing that Wyald is just disrupting the Eclipse from taking place as well as clinging to desperation is a low act for an Apostle to not die without any dignity, to then Wyald at one last attempt to plea to Zodd that they’re both Apostles and serve the Godhand, he should spare him and help him, gives Zodd the immediate conclusion to end Wyald immediately as he is a disgrace to Apostles and what he did isn’t to aid the coming Eclipse so kills him to relish in ending a distasteful Apostle. Now onto how the Behelit works. It not only works from desperation of the summoner’s past life but also their strongest desire they cling to either to cling to life or for a second attempt at righting a wrong. Snake Baron seemed sadistic and possibly was in political standing as he overlooked things the way a nobleman would however he probably was part of a war council as well since he somewhat had some military experience with raiding. So maybe a general and nobleman. Wyald was seen in his human form as a frail old man yet was a strong, wild, carefree beast that relished in absolute pleasure either intimately or sadistically somehow seems to be he was most likely an old man that never enjoyed his youth so he sought to become strong and able to do as he pleases to seek out the most pleasure possible in his Apostle life. The Count we already know much about why he did it but he stuck to righting what he perceived as a wrong in his past life and still held onto some of his humanity. Now Zodd seems to share a somewhat similar perspective as the Count as he laments on something in his past to drive him insanely to seek the strongest to his benefit. Most likely, like the Count he sacrificed something deeply vital to his humanity and it gave him the power to overcome what he faced at that time but was given a huge consequence for his action. I also see that in Berserk how deep sacrifices go and what they entail for certain characters to gain a more deeper perspective for why they are the way they are. Now this was long but hey, I am a Berserk fan and its mature content really has me brainstorming intensely on its lore. I just love it that much

Kentaro's writing is fantastic. He shows how certain characters seem to know more than they let on but says less than is necessary. He doesn't let them give huge exposition dumps, he hints at it by how they act in the story. Zodd most likely has a better or similar understanding of casuality and destiny similar to Skull Knight's but it's left up to the reader to see he is only showing what he wants others to see and still keeping some his cards close the chest. It takes a true genius to implement that type of storytelling the right way.

@c.galindo9639
@c.galindo9639 Жыл бұрын
Arguably she may have still survived long enough to not affect giving birth to Guts. People can be hanged and still be alive but suffer a prolonged excruciating death before meeting their end. I would say she survived long enough to her last breath to birth Guts and he luckily fell into a pool of blood to soften his impact but he is left unconscious before Gambino and his mercenaries arrive to which then the noise of them passing by awakens Guts to cry out and then Shizu upon hearing Guts gives into a motherly instinct to coddle and nurture Guts. Then the rest is history for how Berserk plays out

@@c.galindo9639 I doubt it you don't survive hanging for prolonged times and she was tortured and mangled as well, he just fell out of her corpse, lots of babies are born to dead mothers in the hospitals etc

@@SH19922x that’s your assumption but even so mine can still be true. People can survive for awhile even after being hanged. Also by the look of thing Gambino and his mercenaries barely missed everything that took place or maybe assassinated the people who pillaged the place from a job they took up. Either way we don’t know how long she was hung and whether or not she was still alive to still give birth. What you said is true but what I said is also true so you can’t favoritize one and pass it off as true but I stated what I believe happened and you somehow believe yours is right when mine can also be correct

Someone made a video about a weird theory that I believe more now. Its that the Taboo that got Floria kicked out of Elf island is she revived King Gizerik (prob spelled that wrong) and separated his 2 halves (resulting in Zodd and the Skull Night) So Zodd is the rage and Skull Knight is the better side of him.

I think Nosferatu zodd is the Apostle version of the skull night or he might not even really be an apostle he might be more similar to skullknight than to an apostle. It's also possible that he was once nominated for the god hand but turned it down because it would mean him having to leave the Physical Realm and the joy that he got from it on the battlefield. That would also explain why he has so much superiority over other apostles

Honestly, I don't think Zodd's despair came from being beaten. His driving goal as an apostle is to find someone STRONGER than him that can give him a good fight. I think, like Guts, he chased the dream of being the ultimate swordsmen in life, only to find that he then had "no one worthy" to fight to give his life anymore meaning, eventually leading to the despair as old age loomed that activated his Behlitit, with the promise that he would live until a worthy for could be found as an immortal apostle.
