Laura Drinnon I don't know. He wasn't the best character but I liked him. He was smart and inventive, plus it was cool to see him grow up. The only thing I didn't like was the way his character was phased out in the end. He was headed for Starfleet the whole time and then he does a complete 180 in his very last episode. Then we never heard about him again. BIG-LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!!!

Enough with people going back to these reviews saying "Huh, bet Doug feels pretty bad now! These movies are great!" just because Robin is dead now. It doesn't change the films at all, and it doesn't make the review any less competent. It's pretty fucking stupid for anyone to praise and love a movie now, even though they enjoyed the Critic making fun of it before, just because one of it's stars is now dead. News flash people: EVERY person who's EVER been in any movie will be dead one day too. Will that automatically make the movies that they were in great and classic, even if they were awful before? And the fact that it was suicide doesn't change it at all, either. A film is a film.

Seriously. If actors and actresses dying suddenly meant that all of their work was excellent, then John Wayne's "The Conqueror" was freaking cinematic masterpiece, and the film hall of fame can look forward to eventually including brilliant works such as Troll 2, Pocket Ninjas, and The Room among its numbers. After all, eventually the people involved in those movies will all be dead, which by the KZfaq comment section's line of reasoning means that all of those performers, and all of the films they've been involved in, will suddenly be amazing. This entire "OMG, u shud feel badz becuz u didnt liek a movee & teh actur es ded" nonsense is completely ridiculous, and basically amounts to a crapton of idiots trivializing a man's death by turning it into an excuse to bitch about a critic not liking a movie. Never mind that Williams never seemed to have trouble laughing at himself (at least, not from anything I've seen of him), or that Doug Walker has said on several occasions (including in these reviews) that he likes Robin Williams and even used him as inspiration for his own comedy.

As blunt as it is, I agree. Robin Williams death doesn't make his movies immune to criticism, just as Cliff Burton being dead doesn't make Metallica immune to it.

OK what the hell is up with people bashing Doug when it comes to Robin Williams. 1. The Nostalgia Critic is a character. So majority of the time his opinions are either different and/or exaggerated. 2. Doug has gone on record by saying he loved Robin Williams. 3. He doesn't mock him as a person. He's just saying and/or wandering why Williams always stars in films that either mock or abuse his talents. In his reviews he mocks the movies, writing, directors and any other elements that made the film suck. Robin Williams is a great actor. He just happened to have a questionable choice when it comes to starring in movies. 4. Just because you like something doesn't mean you're not allowed to point out it's flaws. 5. Everyone has hit and miss moments and Robin was no exception. Even the greatest actors of all time had been in crap movies. In fact i dare anyone to find an actor who has never starred or been a part of a flop.

I think the 'bashing' is more an outlet for peoples emotions, considering they feel like they lost someone important when Robin Williams died. A bit silly considering most of us only knew him through his performances, but I guess that's the power of making people laugh since childhood. Otherwise, it's obviously just a bunch of trolls trying to start pointless arguments. It's actually VERY obvious that most of the 'bashing' is just trying to start arguments, or even prompt comments like these... I think after Michael Jackson, we all know that there's nothing wrong with criticizing someone. Their death does not erase their mistakes, and a LOT of complaints the NC is shouting at Robin Williams really has more to do with the story and direction of the movie than it does Williams himself. I think it's pretty admirable that NC has never said "God, Robin williams isn't even trying in this movie.", cause it really seems like he brings at least SOME amount of energy and passion to almost every role I've seen so far. It's kinda special.
@ph89787

Malefizia Professor was really humble. He created Weebo for himself, not for a show. He was genius though, indeed. But it's the same what his enemy said, he was a man of science but he had no clue about "selling" himself and his stuff. He couldn't use his talent to improve his life, was kind of antisocial. You know what I mean. Was very humble and straight as well. These are not characteristic of a wealthy successful businessman or whatever. He did hide in a mask of an average man who's just doing his job. Didn't want to be famous. And he thought that the only way he could save his career was creating something extraordinary EVEN for himself (which was beyond other people dreams). Which was too much. A little cunning mind would be enough to gain anything with his abilities.

***** Kid, you have no idea what you are talking about. But if you must find another example, he has been known to chastise others with differing opinions from his own in real thought vids and in other various situations where he talks to fans. And his perspective is not a good one. In his dumbasses in distress vid, he used that as a way of telling people that in his eyes, people who are weak in either mind, strength or both are unfit to live. That is Social Darwinism, and Social Darwinism is typically found under fascist or communist regimes. He also complains about cliche and wanting something new. But the bitter truth is, nothing is new anymore. Every story and every trope is known today. It doesn't matter how often something is used, what matters is how it's used when it's used. And he uses his charisma and loud voice to sway people into agreeing with him, those who refuse get trolled either by him or his fans. Face it kid, Doug Walker owns you're brain and soul. Let him go and follow what YOU'RE heart and brain tells you, not what Walker tells you.

I dont care if Robin Williams is dead. Flubber fucking sucked. It sucked in 1997 and it still sucks now. Sure, Robin had good films (Aladdin, Mrs Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting) but just cause he's dead doesn't mean his shit films become masterpieces. When Cory Monteith died it didn't mean Glee suddenly became top shit. No. Glee still sucks. Nostalgia critic hated this film because it sucked. That is all

I guess some people legitimately believe that celebrities can't die and think it's incredibly tragic when they finally kick the bucket. And while dated for today, the scene with Flubber "having a party" was aussome to see back in that day, and to a degree if it was just a youtube clip it would be now. I don't blame NC for feeling that way though as it's like one of three things (1. Weebo mostly and sad when she died 2. That scene I just said. 3. somewhat humour in the out there bad guy, especially when Flubber goes thru him) that I liked in this overall bader/est movie remake of what sounds like another bad movie (seeing this didn't want me to see that, especially cuz both do a basketball scene despite the fact it is cheating).

John Hughes actually wrote the screenplay by himself. The "other writer" was the guy who wrote the screenplay for the 1961 Absent-Minded Professor original. Bill Walsh was his name. Another thing was that he actually died in 1975, so his credit in the movie was actually posthumous because elements of his original script were kept.

It seems like this movie wasn't initially going to be a Flubber remake or something. The subplot where Weebo is romantically infatuated with the professor almost seems too interesting and relevant here to dismiss as just a subplot. It's almost like the writers originally came up with that subplot as the original script for a more creative movie but later decided to smash it into the background so they could just have another shitty remake of an old movie no one remembers. Neat. Dammit...I actually thought Weebo and the professor's relationship was charming and had potential. Why didn't they just build on it? Would've been a lot more interesting than the generic shit smear we got here.
@hackman669

Morphiend Just rebuild Weebo in human form and let the magic happen.
@BigPuddin
@BigPuddin 9 жыл бұрын
hackman669 Well...see that's the problem. The principal dynamic that made the two characters' relationship interesting was the physical incompatibility between them. The romantic frustration ensuing is what would build a scintillating dynamic. Weebo loves the Prof...but he doesn't love her the same way...so she goes to extreme lengths to appear/become human...while the Prof. dates a human woman...and Weebo gets more sexually frustrated and jealous...maybe starts to go insane and murderously jealous if you're heading for a darker tone in your story. Or Weebo finds a way to be with the Prof. in the end for a lighter story. Having Weebo as just a human woman to start with really kind of kills the whole point. Then it's just another generic romance...but with SCIENTISTS! Wooooh!
@hackman669
@hackman669 9 жыл бұрын
Morphiend Interesting dynamic. Would make a good read by itself. Just change the focus of the story around to Weebo's perspective and modify the outcome. A machine that is in love with her creator that is ignored and utterly alone. After several comical attempts to get his attention, Weebo feels heart broken and sulks around the lab in shadows. Suddenly there is a loud noise as two dim witted thieves brake into the lab and steel the flubber formula.

I know Robin is dead, but that doesn't mean everything he did was sacred. He was a great man. The critic made a just review and that shouldn't be changed by the fact that some of the people involved in the film are dead. Jeez, some people need to toughen up. It's unfortunate he died, but that shouldn't change the quality of what he did.

The comments on these Robin Williams movies annoy me to no end. Yes, Robin Williams died, but that doesn't mean that every single one of his movies should be considered a masterpiece because of it. A bad movie is still a bad movie, and no-one should have to feel bad for pointing that out. It's also pretty funny how people were completely agreeing with these reviews until Williams' death, but afterwards they're considered inappropriate and unjustified somehow.
