At age 74 I must say that I wish I still had a rotary dial land line phone.

The problem with wringer washers and hanging up clothes to dry is you then had to iron them to get the wrinkles out. We still have an ironing board and iron in the closet, but only because we haven't gotten around to throwing them out yet.

I remember moving to a new house in 1979 and finding there were 2 telephones in the house. 1 on the wall by the kitchen door with a long curly cord, and one in the main bedroom. Totally decadent to have in the UK. No more running downstairs to answer the phone lol

yes, those were different days back then, more physical labor and going all around the house just to answer the phone. lol

Yea the icebox and clothes ringer i remember seeing as a kid in the late 80s early 90s bc of my Grandmother who was born in 1932.. i remember playing with the items in the garage with my sister while we were playing "house " and had our baby dolls as our babies lol...my Grandmother never called the refrigerator in the house "refrigerator" she always called it an icebox where of course my mom and uncles grew up calling it that and im 42 and might at times say icebox too lol

As a general rule The Ice Box Cloths Ringer was replaced in the 1950s in rural US. Though it is still a staple in many parts of the world.

Well, a clothes wringer after washing laundry by hand even my gran, who was born in 1906 didn't use anymore!!! Same an icebox wasn't in use after introducing electric fridges in the 1920s-30s after main home electricity occured in the early 20th century. These are way older than 'olden times'.

Many of us still have a Trying rack today for delicate items.
@GeoAtlasWorld3 ай бұрын
that is so cool. I've seen some videos where a lot of European countries still use a drying rack regularly, must save lots of money, might need to start doing that myself. :)

Wringer washers were not common in the 70s. The ice box also was not a thing in the 70s either.

thank you for that info, I will double check my sources in future. Still learning as I go, which makes it interesting.

What about cameras using film and typewriters instead of today's computers?

Stones and Honing Rods are the old time method, pre electric sharpening tools (they were a fail)

Why don’t you have your pictures match the narration?

I am letting people use their imaginations per some images, but some other things are harder to find images for online. So I use AI tools to try to create some images not found easily online. :) As you can tell it's a real person here making these. Thank you though for your suggestion. Im making these videos as time permits.

why are you talking about things supposedly familiar in the '70's when some of these are from the 1920's-'30's???? ice box? clothes wringer? only to name a couple. i was born in the '50's and these were already gone then! on the other hand, some of the things you mention are actually still in common use, so i don't what bizzaro world you're from, but it's not from earth!

There are so many inaccurate things in this video.

I apologize as I am still perfecting my video and images to match the info. I am working on it for next time. Thank you for your comment.

It's not the images that bother me so much as some of the "facts" are wrong. Way before the 70s, refrigerators had replaced iceboxes. Clothes dryers were normal in the 70s. Very few people had cream separators. Homogenation of milk had been common for many years and before that, unless you were processing milk from multiple cows, it was easier to skim the cream off the milk than to have a big separator to wash, scald, and store. Push button phones were around in the 70s and were touch tone phones. Rotary phones used pulses to dial numbers. The phone company added an extra charge if you wanted a push button phone because of the different technology used to place a call.

@keepsmilin468 I think this video was made by a Millennial???? 😂 For example: Cassette tapes... were more so an 80's thing! And ICE 🧊 BOXES...... and the milk man goin to people's houses 🏘 that's like the 1950's????

Know your times before you put out some click bait yes push button phones did exist in the 70's .
@GeoAtlasWorld3 ай бұрын
I never mentioned that they *didn’t exist in the 1970s. Read the title and then comment. It says in the TITLE that these were *nostalgic* tools/gadgets in the 1970s and near the 1980s they were more used but became popular in 1979 in USA, per my prior research. Thank you for your input, regardless. Have a good day.

Please show pictures which are pertinent to what you are talking about. You didn't show an ice box while talking about them, but you did show a living room. What did that have to do with it?! Please do your research and get your facts strait. Yes, rotary phones were used in the 70's, also the late 80's, 60's, and 50's. I remember them. I'm almost certain they were used in the 40's. Don't know about the 30's. They were also hardwired into the wall until the late 70's. Ours was on the opposite side of the wall from the bathroom. When on the phone, we couldn't prevent the toilet from being heard!
