Thanks for this video. Wish you walked a little further to show the Hopkins-Nanjing Center next to Xiyuan. Lots of alums from that program who’d appreciate you Shanghai Lu walk. This was real nostalgic nonetheless. Keep up the good work!

Excellent! Really enjoyed this. A year ago this week I was in woohoo (@2:20) drinking Sapporo. I had another great day at Guns and Hops which was in the alley @11:00 . Great video!

My family used to live on Shanghai Lu near Nanda in 1980's. Thanks for your vlog! Brought back many precious memories :))

Thanks for showing 金银街Nanjing Uni 西苑. Brings back amazing memories of living at the dorm 20 years ago. I wonder if it’s lost its soul with such changes. Anyway, would be good if you film from the end of the road and then turn right (forgot the street name) with all those Uighur restaurants. I hope they’re still there?

@@xiaoandmatt actually, I think it’s青岛路 with the yummy Uighur restaurants that we frequented，not far from the main entrance of 南大。Also, I’d like to see 汉口西路off 上海路。As 留学生, we’d often go there to buy pirated DVDs, fresh fruit and veggies as well as visit the local 苏果超市。 This was all back in 2002! Other places that we’d visit were 湖南路，新街口and夫子庙。

@@timetable88 Oh I know the place you are referring to on 青岛路. I think it is still there. The DVD place and Suguo on 汉口西路 are both also surprisingly still there as well.

I remember there used to be a Mediterranean restaurant and a Belgium beer bar. That was like 8 years ago almost.

Shanghai Lu. Guangzhou Lu. Not far away from Nanda. I remeber Shanghai Lu as a very small alley maaany years ago when I was a student in NJ. 😂

whats the difference between nanjing uni vs nanjing normal uni?

A Normal university in China is a university to train teachers, usually middle school teachers. However nowadays many Normal universities are among the best and largest schools in their provinces so many of their graduates go to industries and other businesses in stead of teaching.

I really dislike that they allow people park cars, or adding random staircases or doors on pedestrian path. Not only it damages the pathway, also makes it hard for pedestrians.
