Not A Les Paul: 2011 PRS SE Singlecut Review

ADDENDUM:
I traded it off shortly after filming this.
I got offered to trade for a Fender Jaguar listed a good 15% over this thing and I wanted to give it a go (review coming soon).
The Jag was later sold, then I joined a band for a while and kept thinking that that PRS would've been perfect for that particular gig.
Well, a few days after, this exact same one got posted again.
My brain was on some sort of a holiday, so without thinking I just lowballed to feel the room.
He took the deal right away.
Same dude I traded with 8 months prior.
The band broke off since.
The Singlecut has been posted for sale again.
I keep reaching for the Les Pauls, and I'm not getting rid of them.
Not that it has anything to do with anything.
It's been established many times during the video: this is not a Les Paul.

Nice video haha. I got a 2015 SE 245 Singlecut with 4 knobs in a recent trade about a month ago. Compared to my 1994 PRS Custom 24, this 2015 SE 245 is... just... well... best I can describe it is that it's a cheap guitar. Plain and simple. I've also played/owned cheap guitar brands like Harley Benton and Firefly. My "new to me" 2015 PRS is either equal to those $200 brand new knock offs or actually a little worse. Just doesn't sound gig worthy. Then I came across this video and wondering if it's because mine is made in Indonesia instead of Korea that my SE's body is much fatter, yet weighs like it's hollow inside. Gonna be on the lookout for an SE like in this video to compare my own and see if the cheaper PRS SE line has gone too far CNC machine these days. My SE is only good to travel with as a practice guitar when having to stay in a hotel (not for a gig) and worried about it getting damaged, lost, or stolen. I wouldn't recommend newer SE models (maybe the Silver Sky models are better?) unless you're just trying to learn the guitar and this is one of your first guitars. As an intermediate to low-level advanced weekend warrior gig type of guy, I would recommend saving your pennies until you can afford one of their more expensive models since you get what you pay for... or buy an American Standard Strat/Tele... or a nice Les Paul Standard. Something like that. You get what you pay for is all I'm saying with one exception... your style uses a TON of distortion (not just Overdrive, HEAVY distortion). Then get whatever guitar you want since it won't make too much of a difference.

Surprisingly good! They are very clear and defined, very PRS-like. Not a hint of mud to them either. They definitely give my LPs a good run for their money at a quarter of the price.

I paid about 1200 dollars back in 2014 but this was in South America so it was probably way cheaper in the US for example. Nowadays you can probably only find them used, I've seen them for about 800 or 900 on Reverb. Crazy bang for the buck.

@@thawthaw03Okay, first, I got confused with a different guitar, so the number was off. I'm sorry for that. I'm having a very weird day. This version of the Singlecut can actually be found for about $500 in some countries, and yes, it is incredibly good. It'll give my Traditional Les Paul a good run for its money. PRS, regardless of the origin, is always up to crazy levels of quality. I haven't tried the newer versions of the SE Singlecut, which is a bit different, but if this guitar is any indication of anything, I'm sure they are excellent, maybe even better than this one.
