COME ON GUYS! Please SUBSCRIBE! I'm truly trying to grow this channel and shed a light on something that's often forgotten!
This one shows an upstairs dryer in a townhome! Vent goes up through the attic to the roof. MANY ISSUES on this one! It's a bit longer as some have been asking for a full "tutorial" and this one the homeowner allowed filming in the home.
Please check out my website for my Quick Connect Periscope! It's the PERFECT product that replaces the flex hose connection and GETS THE MACHINE CLOSER TO THE WALL! Safer than ANY flex hose behind your dryer! No more fooling with connecting the dryer to the duct! No more lint leakage forcing you to dust constantly!
almetaldryervent.com/
PLEASE LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE FOLKS!!! I'm trying to grow the channel however I'd much rather spread the word on the dangers of your dryer vent AND SAVE A LIFE!!! You subscribing helps get this message to more and more people!
Cleaning your dryer vent should be on your "to do" list regardless of if you own or rent your home! ESPECIALLY if your vent is run in a tight crawl space.

Steve, good video. Lint Eater makes an adapter to fit in the dryer vent and a vacuum to catch all that lint. They also make a bag called a Lint Catcher that can attach to the wall vent to catch that lint. I have a dryer vent cleaning business also and I connect a vacuum inside and brush from the outside. No mess at all.

Best video I've seen thus far. Thanks bro!! I bought a cleaning kit on Amazon, but I was hoping I could get through the vent without getting on the roof. There's a box in the attic that couples the 2 tunes together. One leads up through the roof, and the othe end leads back down to the dryer. I guess I have to get on the roof to get the other end.

OR, you can get in the attic and take the duct apart and reach up and clean the exterior damper from the inside! Then just take the duct back like it was! Just DON'T use Ducktape! Use foil tape bc the heat of the dryer will melt the "sticky" off Ducktape! Hopefully that helps and thx for watching!

Been cleaning dryer vents since 2005. I`m getting too old climbing ladders on roofs. Glad you were able to be safe up there. I use a vacuum hose near the exhaust to catch the lint from flying outward. Also, a tip for getting that transit hose closer to the wall without crimping. I pull out the washer out so I can reach behind the dryer. As I draw the dryer closer to the wall, I use my fingers and walk the hose as it compresses. Then I slide the washer in place. I also offer installing the DryerBox unit as an extra service. This will allow the dryer to be closer to the wall and also great Fire prevention. After thousands of dryer vents cleaning. Be surprised how many homeowners have non- code compliance vents. So many use those flex hoses. Also, Dryer Vents should not exceed 30 ft. 90-degree elbows count as 5 ft when measuring. I`ve seen so many remodels where contractors extend vents way too long.

Absolutely! And I completely agree when you have that option. Look a little closer to my periscope though. We invented the donut piece that the dryer exhaust actually seals to... That way, when you're pushing the machine back into place, you can be off 1/2" on either side and it will guide the exhaust into the periscope. Others on the market just have the regular 4" receiver that is difficult to get connected after you pull it out the first time! Thanks for watching and your comment!

I don’t get upstairs laundry facilities. You spend most of your day downstairs, far easier to keep an eye on laundry if near the kitchen/living area. Nearer to put things outside to dry, a more solid floor for a washer to spin and further away from sleeping kids. Oh and forgot about plumbing leaks!

I cleaned mine with 200 ft of clothesline, a round hand brush, a plastic shoppping bag, and a shopvac. Shopvac sucked the plastic bag thru the vent with the line tied to it. Pulled more line so half of it was out, and tied the brush in the middle. Then pulled the brush thru the vent by hand, several times, both directions to loosen anything on the vent sides. Final brush pull combined with shopvac and all the lint came out. Interestingly, most of the lint blockage ended up being the flex hose to the dryer; I suspect that is probably the case in most homes; that kinked hose reduces air flow so that wet lint sticks to all those corrugations. Also, never run your dryer without the lint screen installed - that screen catches far more lint each year than what comes out of a cleaning

What alternative can you use to a flex hose at the back of the dryer? I have not seen any other options at the home depot locally when looking. My laundry room is terribly small & it is difficult to move the dryer & clean out & change the hose when the laundry begins being damp thru a cycle.

I mainly like doing it from the exterior so I can have the dryer running. That way, as I run the brush through the duct, the airflow is forcing it to exit the pipe. Otherwise, if really dirty, you can push the lint into a huge clog. Then you get to take it all apart, LOL! I have a video coming out tomorrow morning where I clean the duct from the interior. @@advsLLC Good to see you took my comment as intended. Dust from clothes are one of the most dangerous kinds. Your body is not able to get it out of your lungs or break it down. So any exposure is bad. You are recommended to use a proper respirator even when cleaning the lint filter in your dryer at home. The instructions for mine says to rinse the filter with water, and NOT touch it dry. And you being surrounded by this dust at all times need to be even more careful.

I think a laundry room in the center of the home shouldn’t be allowed either. Usually the longer the duct run, the more lint will accumulate. If enough lint accumulates, will either cause a fire, or will simply burn the heating element out or make the high limit thermostat get weak caution to trip even if the ductwork isn’t restricted. Picked up a Maytag dryer from the mid 70’s back in 2018 (was still being used until I bought it), you’d think it would be jammed full of lint but to my surprise, not as much lint as I thought there would be which means the laundry area it was in was on a exterior wall. Have another Maytag dryer from the 70’s that’s gas, quite literally are >forced< to keep it clean since it’s standing pilot ignition.
