I'm old enough to remember a time when most people were like that. I used to hitchhike for miles in NC back in the 70's. People would stop and pick you up and just talk about all kinds of stuff and drop you off where you wanted to be. It's a much different world today.

I gave a ride to a stranger loong time ago, the conversation started getting weird & things didnt make sense, i grabed a screw driver casually not caring if the guy noticed or not & had it on my hand resting on my waist ready for defensive attack, guy changed tone & got quiet, he then asked for early exit, i was glad he exited & nothing bad happened other than wasting a bit of time i didn't really have to begin with, i dont give rides unless family period anything else too bad not my problem or interest

Got stuck out in the Arizona desert while driving out to see family. Was 18 years old at the time and about 20 miles from a gas station. A girl about my age and her mom drove me all the way to get gas and back. Really thankful for these type of people.

I was driving home from work a few years ago, late night, and saw some older man walking on the side of the highway. Stopped to see if he was ok but on a gut feeling, locked my doors and only just cracked my window. Guy asks for a ride and I ask some normal questions, like 'are you stranded etc" and he started freaking out, tugging on my door handle, and trying to reach through the gap in the window, so I just gunned it tf outta there. This was in a 'safe' area, far outside of city limits. Always trust your gut, man

I got a flat, had no cell service. I was stuck. An older man on his bike stopped. He said I'll be back in 40 minutes, he turned around and he was gone. True to his word, he came back with his truck and trailer. We loaded up my bike and he gave me a ride all the way home. As he filled his truck up, I went to buy a couple of sodas. I paid for his gas. He was a retired police officer.

@Anno Kitsune I'm assuming you're asking me to name everywhere I've been? If so I'll do my best to list them out but I'll more than likely forget a few: Locally I've been to all 50 states + D.C and the US territories of Kwajalein and Puerto Rico. Going international now obviously Canada & Mexico. Heading south I've been to Belize, Panama, Ecuador and Chile. Heading back north Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Georgia, Kazakhstan and. Russia. Headed south from there in Asia Proper, I've been to Turkey, Iraq, Iran technically too but by accident, Kuwait, Qatar, Dubai, and The UAE. Even farther south I've been to Myanmar back when it was Burma, the Philippines, and then Australia. west from there back to Africa I've been to Egypt, Morocco and Ethiopia. Unfortunately I haven't been farther South on the African continent, but that's on my bucket list, along with Nepal, China, and hopefully one day as close to as Antarctica as I can get in hopes of visiting all 7 continents in my lifetime. I'm pretty sure there's a few countries I'm blanking on at the moment, but hopefully you get the gist of what I'm referring to when I say I've been all over the world lol
