This was the last good parody movie.
@gluserty3 жыл бұрын
I know this is one of the last ones I paid attention to; I ordered it off pay-per-view back in 2002. I mean, I've seen "Date Movie" and all that, but I do believe this ended up being my cut-off point for parodies. I never dug the "Scary Movie" films though, and those newer parodies on films I wouldn't watch (the "Twilight" series, "50 Shades of Grey", that kind of deal) are another reason I checked out.
@RagnarokMic3 жыл бұрын
“Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story” was both better and released after.
@gluserty3 жыл бұрын
@@RagnarokMic I'd consider that a different kind of parody: to me "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" is more in the class of Anchorman or "Talladega Nights", as those films have more of a focused story while the other parodies throw in a bunch of gags and pop culture references without regards to story. I don't think that's good or bad, but I believe there's a fundamental difference in styles there.
@RagnarokMic3 жыл бұрын
@@gluserty It was just a better done parody, as it stuck to the genre it was parodying, still rapid fire gags and references to different biopic tropes. Stuff like NATM and Scary Movie still told stories along the lines of their genre. Walk Hard was a pure parody, in line with classics, like Naked Gun movies, and Airplane. Talledega Nights was more just a straight forward comedy.
@gluserty3 жыл бұрын
@@RagnarokMic I think parodies have categories: there the "Exclamation Point" parodies ("Airplane!", Top Secret!", "Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!", "Hot Shots!", "Mafia!"), the "Movie" parodies ("Scary Movie", Not Another Teen Movie", Date Movie", Epic Movie"; I only like the teen one), and then there's stuff like Anchorman & Dewey Cox, which are bio spoofs. I used to think I'd love any parody that came about, but just like a live-action "The Cat in the Hat", I changed my mind when it did happen that way.
