‘Not appropriate’: Prime Minister tells Setka and CFMEU to drop AFL threats

The Prime Minister has called on a powerful union to end its campaign against the AFL which involve threats to derail the game's projects unless its umpiring boss is given the boot.
The Prime Minister has said it is “common sense” for Victorian CFMEU boss John Setka to head his advice.
Mr Setka is rejecting calls to abandon the dispute, saying Anthony Albanese should “stay out of it”.

@@RULE3O3 We live in Australia, not Qatar. We have OHS which workplaces must facilitate or risk fines or criminal convictions. We don't need unions to ensure that people get paid $200k a year to hold a stop sign.

The problem seems to be that a government organisation to keep an eye on the unions is not the done thing according to the unions. So out come the union threats and the intimidation. Old uncle Albo can’t get this under control. It is pretty clear who is running the country under an ALP government, and it ain’t Albo.

Ok, so how is that not blackmail and coercion? And how is Setka not in jail already anyway? The corrupt unions in this country need to be reined in, banned from construction sites and monitored by an independent body that Labor cannot influence, that has serious teeth and power to keep the unions in line. Frankly, the unions should be barred full stop from lobbying and any and all political involvement. Albanese will do absolutely nothing in this mess.

What a difference, Albo will call out a union for making threats but not the Muslims, as he in not dependent on the union votes, whereas Allen will not touch the CFMEU as they are so dependent on them as they control the Labor government in Victoria

He claims it is unaustralian to employ a person who was paid to do a job that tried to keep his union honest. A union that has a colourful record of behaviour including its leader. A good look in the mirror and practice being a good Australian might help but a leopard doesn’t lose its spots, they just fade. Not surprised by the nerve because it reflects the history of a bullying behaviour pure and simple. Unfortunately labour governments are too weak to stand up to him.
