I am 13 years old and I have been watching your videos for years and am planning on having a homestead when I grow up. I grow a huge garden every year and I have 3 milk cows now. I also have chickens and am working on getting ducks and quail. You have inspired me so much. I just ordered your book along with poly face designs and poly face micro. I ordered attainable sustainable a few years ago and loved it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Do you have a site where we can follow? I remember my Dad making a chicken coop and us playing in it before he got the chickens. He had an incubator and brooder he used both for the chickens and rabbits before the hutches and coop were made. He also raised geese and ducks, and had a veggie garden as well as working full time. We had lots of fruit trees he planted as well. I'm 76 this year and planning on container gardening as I rent so can't dig up the yard. I've ground gardened before but the container gardening is new to me. I'd appreciate your input, feed back, and suggestions. God bless. Glad you have hopes and dreams, and LOTS of experience!! I think you will succeed! Do you watch roots and refuge? It's another wonderful site and they are just starting to develop their new property. God bless.

I'm a long time viewer but have never posted before. These videos about ways to expand and improve the useable land on your property are super interesting and informative. It would be really cool to see some before and afters (drone footage? maps?) on the new silvopasture areas from the pigs and the more recent mechanical clearing. From the on-the-ground videos it can be a little difficult to get a true sense of how much new, useable pasture you've reclaimed. It's also really interesting to hear your conversations with various experts (the permaculturalist, the surveyor, etc.) about the challenges and strengths of your land. The nerdier the better!

I purchased your book from Amazon 3/6/22 and have enjoyed it and learned so much. About a month ago we moved to our forever home in Alabama and I’ve already become the crazy plant lady. I’ve got seedlings growing in an indoor green space I set up in my laundry room and today I had to put a fan on some of them. I got such a chuckle when watching that episode and you said “you might be a crazy plant lady if you put a fan on your plants”. I’m so ready and excited for this growing season - got my seeds, silage tarp, tiller, tools and marked out my 24 x 50 space. This years goal: grow, learn, keep a journal and enjoy. Next spring chickens!

You may find that a poly material would work really well over your garden beds. You can leave it on during the day being clear and it will hold up well against rain and snow. I used it to cover in some of our beds last year and was able to get some early growth with it.

perhaps you could resolve the problem of the agribond (frost cloth) breaking down by joining it with some heavy duty clear plastic and effectively "quilting" it by running both layers back and forth through a sewing machine to stitch them together and create a more durable kind of frost cloth?

I get heart palpitations when my thyroid medicine is too high. It doesn't take much. 125 mg causes heart racing and insomnia, 112 mg gives low thyroid symptoms. Blood work in normal range for both 125 and 112. I found the happy medium for me is 112 mg 5 days a week , and 125 mg two days a week. Sounds crazy, but true. Thyroid hormones are very important and a little too much or just a little too little can cause problems. Take care of yourself Becky.

If i wouldn't take any medication my body would shut down bit by bit, starting with the most heavy headaches one can imagine and then add some twice on top, not because I want to or could reverse it by living a different life with a little tin foil hat on my head. Let her raise the calf. A calf weaned too early will be stunted, a heifer calved too early will be stunted, especially after nursing a calf for 3 months. Or wean him and then let her gain weight back afterwards or you will be disappointed again. she will need time to dry off and gain some fat back after nursing a calf. I would never butcher a nursing cow. that is the worst meat you will have.

The best advice I can give you regarding cows is keep the girls turn the boys into steers and eat them in the cow world girls are not as easy to come across I have been trying for 3 years and all I do is keep getting boys but that's just my opinion you never know maybe this year might be different I have cows due in August but I think they will be boys again on another note Justin have you ever thought about breeding your own meat chickens I have just started doing it and I am quite happy with how it is working out I have 28 little chicks all meat chickens and my plan is within the next year to constantly breed them and raise so many for the freezer at the end of the day it would save a lot of money in the long run if you did not have to go out and buy chicks I know it's a little bit more work but I think it's well worth it in the past you have used Cornish cross you know you can make your own all you need is a Cornish and a Plymouth Rock they won't grow quite as fast as the hatchery it might take a few more weeks maybe it's something you need to consider I remember a long time ago you used to incubate eggs meat chickens are not just for meat you can get some very good meat chickens that are a dual purpose and will lay quite a lot of eggs that was my plan so I can have layers and I can have breeders and then when they start to slow down I can replace them at no cost

Oh so sorry about the heart racing. Heart issues after covid is pretty common. Sure your doctor will tell you that. As long as its just that and not blood clots you'll be fine.

I bought your book through Amazon to be shipped on 1 Mar, but I didn't receive any of the bonuses you mentioned in this episode. Not sure where or who else I need to speak to.
