It is a certain type of person...They are so Hell bent on telling their side(because they believe they are right) that they will talk over ANYONE trying 2voice a difference of opinion....They are used 2 over yelling their point so that they don't even consider the fact that they are in a courtroom....People who can not have a level headed conversation, and are not intelligent enough 2 communicate over talk everyone...

I love it because ol firecrotch does the same damn thing. It's insane she gets paid millions to pretend to be a judge, and rarely let's people even get their story out. I would never go on a show like this and not at least be able to defend myself when friends and family will see.

@@markbrandon7359 I was not able to become a mechanic due to wrong timing (guys didn't believe in girls becoming mechanics at that time). But I have PLENTY of mechanics in my family that have said the same as you are saying. And now, with age my disabilities have taken over, and even my favorite things to do have gone (bicycling, hiking, volleyball, & rollerskating). So, I'll enjoy watching my nearly grown grandkids do what they do best.

Or you are smart enough to know that buying new is a waste of $ and if you do your due diligence on the car and pay cash, you can save a ton of $. I’ve saved a ton of $ by buying cars with 50K miles and driving them another 200K. But I get what (I think) you are saying about this plaintiff-they bought an older Mercedes because they wanted the status and didn’t think about whether it was a good investment or not. A Mercedes is never a good investment.

This isn't a '64 Impala with a 283. Many cars like this you have to remove the upper plenum of the intake manifold before you can even see the valve covers, remove the coil packs, remove multiple brackets and wiring harnesses and if the cowl is over the back of the engine that complicates it even more. I'm not saying he didn't charge too much, perhaps he did, but there isn't a car built in the last 25 years that only takes 30 minutes to change a valve cover gasket on.

This is a Mercedes V-8, not an old Chevy 350; you haven't a clue what it takes to do the job. From memory it's only 9 screws holding the cover to the head, but you have to remove a bunch of other stuff first...then re-install all that other stuff. How much stuff depends on which side and what year the car is.

@@DonziGT230 I guess my 39 years as a professional mechanic and shop owner doesn't qualify me as knowing anything? So I am at the computer, the official Mitchell labor time based on a random, since we don't know the year, SL500 Mercedes is 2.2 hours for one side. I don't know what the labor rate is in your area but my shop is $105 per hour. Mitchell further lists the gaskets at $20.50 each. So if I was doing this job, assuming the parts price is correct, the total cost would be $230.50 plus tax. That is using the nationally recognized standard Mitchell labor guide. Like I said, the guy might have overcharged her but this isn't a 30 minute job according to the labor guide and a professional repair shop will stick to that standard. So I guess if you can do this repair in 30 minutes you would be a successful mechanic if you were getting paid flag time. I also found no mention of screws although the 8mm bolts on the "Cylinder Head Cover", Mercedes official name for the valve cover, torque to 10Nm. Just incase you do one of these in the future.
