Time of year matters a lot with fly fishing, as different flies will hatch at different times of the year. For example, if you used a caddis fly pattern one month and were successful, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be successful the next month, week, day, etc.

@@jacobstarr9010 Exactly. A Caddisfly’s gonna be a lot better in mid/late July than it is in late April. The one exception to this is the Parachute Addams. I don’t know how, that thing always seems to be in season.

If you're fly fishing, pay attention to what insects are spawning and mimic them.

@@cloaker7237 agreed! The Addams can be pretty much universally considered the year-round backup plan. For me, in Michigan at least, I find that hoppers work through most of the spring and summer too. Just try different patterns til you get a hit.

@@BuckNastyVids I think because they mimic midges maybe? And down here in Colorado, things like hoppers are sometimes effective, but it depends on the weather I think. It can be inconsistent

Lol great analogy! Here it can be hit or miss. Some places day of stocking is terrible and it takes about a week for them to start biting. Others the day of stocking is the best

I agree. Fishing is fun, but for the fish it isnt. Most of us dont know this, but when fish get hooked they go through EXCRUCIATING pain. And then they go out of water, they suffocate too. So its pretty cruel ngl

Leader can be the line you have connected ( leading to your main line ) or it can be an attachment to your line that helps you clip on and off different lures , in this case I’m pretty sure the leader is the line connected to your main line. Hope that helps im also fairly new to fishing as well but this is what I’ve learned so far about leaders.

Blown up crawlers are amazing! Even a regular crawler off the bottom can do wonders when the powerbait bite is flat

@@Tackle2thePeople i have creek where all i use is crawlers and get atleast 6 diffefent species, i catch em around the neighborhood usually have 2 or 3 boxes goin.

History of trout stocking is pretty cool. Though not great for waters that support native trout

Jakes lures, I fish a lot of backwoods High elevation trout and they will only hit Jakes spinners….Gold/red combo works best for western US trout

Micro jigs. Replaces every single bait or lure you mentioned and can be fished in many ways. I’ll never use bait again. Plus I catch and release a lot and a jig is always hooked right in the lip.

@@outdoorsanimalsandmusic3014 I don't think so but that's your opinion dog each bait artificial or not can be better or worse depending on type of weather water temperature time of year etc.

@@adee2324 I quit bait a long time ago. Too much chance for hook swallowing. I fish roughly 4 days a week. I fish many lakes and streams where bait isn’t even allowed. Really nice fish in those areas. I always do better than everyone with bait. Especially in rivers. I consider myself a trophy fisherman and make my own lures and tie my own custom jigs. It’s a challenge to me to catch fish on only gear made by me. I can really match the hatch at the specific location. The trophy fish zones that is a must.

@@adee2324 the other day I was fishing a stream that you can use bait at and between all four of us I was the only one who caught fish and my micro jig is the only thing they would take. I’m talking 1/80-1/124th ounce.

@@outdoorsanimalsandmusic3014 when use powerbait or any bait I use these circle hooks so there is a lesser chance of gut hook and I'm from pa bro I fish for Chinook and steelhead up in pulaski in NY and sometimes eggs are key in that part but times like now they love them powebait pink worms
