The WSJ's Eva Tam follows the lives of one Filipina maid and one Indonesian maid to find out that Hong Kong is more than just a place to make money - it's where they learn new skills and build a community away from home.

Boy I wish I had the money to employ one of these women, they're so sweet, and I'm a terrible housekeeper as much as I work. I'd love to give them opportunity to help their families and friends back home.

We OFWs are the bloodline of the economy but the most tearful are the DH job .... That's the reason they called us here in Hong Kong "" Heroes of their Home"" we care we give & most of all we love unconditionally .. 💗💗💗 a descent job that must be proud of... Bcz life itself is a 🎁 gift from God... What we are doing is a gift back to God...😇💪💛😘👍 Godbless us all!! 🙏🙏🙏

Most Filipinos working as a maid in HK had a college degree. most of them were teachers

I have a cousin graduated and she pass the board exam.as a nurse but not shes a helper in HK,i have 3 cousin they are primary teacher but they go to hk as a helper,and the other one graduated as acpunting but now shes helper.

The problem is that they leave their kids behind and they become easy prey for family members that want to prey upon them. Most of the fathers are just waiting for the money to go out drinking and be with women and they leave the kids to relatives. It's sad but it's true.

Oh my! This is what exactly I would be. Once I go overseas to provide what my kids needs because my Husband doesn't want to work because He is mighty as he think. I want to work abroad to for my education. This is what my Husband says to me. To give him money but I let my children be with his Family so that he could drunk all day while my kids would suffer left behind. The Mother of my Husband doesn't like me also to be part of their Family so I could imagine what my children would be..

Pekerja TKI Kususnya PRT di Negara Hongkong kebanyakan mereka pandai berbahasa Ingris.Sedangkan TKI PRT diNegara Malaysia PRT tidak bebas seperti dihongkong.Biarlah mereka merasa gembira karena masih usia muda.Lain dengan kita,bekerja untuk menghidupi keluarga diindon,dan kita berusaha pakai ETIKA dan membawa Nama BAIK Bangsa indon.

HK is such a cool and vibrant city... If you are a maid, you can spend your Sunday being a maid, or you can go pretend to be a princess. keep away from the park. Go elsewhere.

Asif if you have nothing nice to say do not spread insults to others who worship differently. This is not the way to speak by insulting. As a Muslim myself I'm disgusted by the way you approach people who follow a different believe. This is not the way to speak. Go and read hadiths on manners and characters of true Muslims.
