This time Tony is demolishing the ceiling which has a ton of dust and rubble on top of it.

We are Tony and Jane and we are living in and renovating our old Relais De Poste/Coaching Inn.
We live in the middle of France in a region called The Berry.
We have over 40 rooms to renovate so there is plenty of work to be done. We also love to trawl the local Brocantes, flea markets and antique shops for quirky furnishings and furniture.
We love to find out about local history and often visit other peoples buildings including our friends’ Chateaux.

Hello Jane, this is a beautiful bread oven building!! It is lovely now the ceiling has been taken out, and the light! Tony should have purchased a hard hat before he even started projects in the house, it can be dangerous as the materials used was not cemented together with quality materials, but they did the best they could in those times. Arrow holes, I thought they were air vents! Those were challenging days it seems, wild and very dangerous. That oven is going to be the greatest when Tony has restored it, you will have much use from that. Do take care, enjoy your projects and have a beautiful day and be safe. Kind regards.

It must have bin s wealthy family who owned the house. Having a bread oven was voor rich people. They often baked the bread for the whole village.

Please be safe. When I get a chance I love watching your episodes. ❤ what was that room used for?? Tony you remind me of my late husband. He loved buying old places. Fixing them up!! Wasn’t afraid of anything!! I would always say I can’t do that , I’m afraid too. He would say are you sure you were raised on a farm?? You act like your a city girl. I looked at him land said you know I’m a farm girl! He knew that would make me mad and than I would do it!! So funny now that I think about it! Such a beautiful building!! You can do so much with it. Just love that bread oven!! Can’t wait to see it finished. Lots of love from Tennessee!!❤❤❤

Glad the weather is behaving so you can get on with these things. Be careful Tony :) beautiful arch work well done :) I wonder if there is a way to do the beams to leave it open as it is now much more ventilation. Put some cobbles down might be ok. I hope you are ok Tony take it easy. Well done both of you. Maybe some hanging plant pots give it some interest or lanterns for light in the evenings when you are using the oven.

There’s a very good chance the river has eroded the ground under the corner of the tower which is causing the floor collapse and the wall cracking. I’d be worried any digging there may cause that whole wall to fall away. Repointing the wall and adding strength before digging the floor may be wise. Too bad you removed the smoker. I liked it.

I was surprised at what good condition the timbers were that Tony cut. There might’ve been a little rot around the outside & at the ends but the center of those beams were still quite solid looking. What was that construction beside the bread oven that you are talking about removing, do you know? Was it part of the bread oven, a place to feed the fire or a separate oven??? Fascinating, whatever it was! Oops! If I had just waited for the end of the video, I would see that it was for smoking meat, lol. That’s what I get for asking questions prematurely.😂
