Bishop Green was one of the most successful and respected leaders the Church of God in Christ ever produced. He was a longtime General Board Member of the church worldwide and presided as Prelate over one of the largest Ecclesiastical Jurisdictions in the entire Brotherhood with hundreds of churches under his episcopal leadership. A man of tremendous prayer, fasting and wisdom, and phenomenally endowed with the Gifts of the Spirit, he preached and operated under the power of the Holy Ghost. And his church was *_ALWAYS_* packed out because of his highly anointed ministry, sanctified life and uncompromising standard of Holiness which he practiced, preached and maintained until the day he died. His church membership numbered in the thousands during his lifetime. He could *PREACH* the hair up on top of your head, and if you were sick when he prayed for you, you got *HEALED.* So yeah, walk on out, and if this had been at his local church (it wasn't, it was in Memphis at Mason Temple during the Holy Convocation) there would be 10 others waiting to take your seat.

You would not have been missed. It was our International Mass Choir during the International Holy Convocation at Mason Temple in Memphis. Over 800 voices. If you left you would never have been allowed to sing in the Mass Choir at an International gathering of the Church of God in Christ ever again. They would have laughed at you and said "good riddance" because they used to turn away loads of people who wanted to sing in the International Mass Choir but couldn't be accommodated. Especially during the administration of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark when she presided over the Music Department as the International President. She would have told the ushers to escort you out of her choir stand and to never let you back in again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

I understand what you are saying and you are correct. If you noticed not everyone was agreeing with his actions. Sometimes people have to move away from this kind of leadership. Things have to be done decent and in order. God is not the author of confusion but of peace.

I doubt you have ever been in, or handled choirs as a choir director. I have been both and you have no idea the kinds of stuff choir members do that just upsets the whole atmosphere in church when they come to minister. I know how many times I have had to warn instrumentalists over playing like they are competing with each other, or background vocalists trying to outshine one another instead of singing in harmony. One time, I had to settle some serious beef between the two main soloists in a church choir I was helping out with in a foreign country. One day, the pastor noticed what was going on and decided to lead the praise and worship himself that day. Needless to say the meeting we had later that day was a very fiery one with voices raised everywhere. Only God will really help us in the Christian race.

@enod9746 To this person who knows nothing about me. I've been involved with, sang in, played for, directed, composed songs for, conducted workshops for, etc, for choirs since 1971. You have no idea of my personal experiences with choirs. I have said this once, and I will say it again, "Those types of corrections can be avoided if the leader of the church would take the time to come to rehearsal and make known his or her general expectations." This type of foolishness is totally unacceptable. This is one reason of many why choirs in many churches are gradually becoming extinct. You should do your research on a person before you make comments about one whom you know nothing about.

Do your research as to what led to this incident in COGIC before you make comments and pass judgement on a church you know nothing about. I am very sure you do not know the backstory.

@enod9746 I clearly said, " Since 1971." Clearly, that's the year I got started. I hope and pray that I'm talking to someone who has common sense. And another thing, if he's going to rebuke them publicly, he should have explained his reasons publicly. I'm almost certain that they were not told that they were obligated to sing after the minister. If you could avail me with the name of the choir director, I'd appreciate it. I'd like to give her a word of encouragement.

If he's true, show me book, chapter and verse. The choir sings when the director signals. If he had communicated with the director I'm sure he would have gotten the desired results. If not, replace the director. None of that needs to take place in front of the congregation. This is pointless showboating at the choir's expense.
