Sucks that you had a loss like this. I been there unfortunately. As a viewer I encourage you to continue you to make videos. Im not Spanish and cannot speak it yet but I love that you use both. I think it caters to both english and spanish speakers which is unique and awesome. Also your handy work building your perches and crates etc. are a great inspiration. Keep your head up. Hope you get more back.

Sad to see this. If they were only out in the morning and you trained in the afternoon it can mess them up. I would think from a mile they should have been fine. Had to fly the wrong direction for many miles. Maybe a falcon attack to completely scare them. Try to train this group out and get them mixed with other pigeons or they will not be good as yearlings. Maybe several training truck tosses. What happened is a nightmare for all of us.

Yikes. I'm sorry to see that. I would suspect a falcon probably got into them. This happened to me a few times last year.

Oh Jesus. Hopefully they come back. I don’t think 1 mile is too far at all. Nothing you did wrong IMO. I loft fly my birds in the evening and toss in the morning and they’ve been ok. Only time I lost a bird from a 1 mile toss was from a hawk. Man, I really feel for you.

Not your fault at all my friend. My theory would be hawks or picked up by others training or racing. Im sure you will get some more back but know myself its a horrible experience. We had 21 pigeons out on the night but this is now down to 10 after a week....still awful but youve just got to make a plan and move on. Keep us updated mate, we really enjoy your videos. Chin up 😊

So sorry in deed, Mr. Quintero. I think there are some factors to be considered next time. For instance, Mr. McLaughlin suggests to basket the youngsters and drive them around for 10-15 minutes for them to get used to the basket and the car. Some can even experience carsick at that point because its their first time, so he also suggests to toss them close or even in front of the house. Secondly, I also consider that, since that was their first toss, the tossing time should have been in the morning. Pigeons in general, but the young birds even more, get really stressed out when they are in the basket. Therefore, I think that tossing them in the morning would have given them the chance to return at least late in the afternoon; they were clearly scared and got out of the basket heading to the opposite direction. Just my observations, no meaning to sound judgmental. I hope to see more of you and your pigeons soon.

Have the young birds been rangeing in and out of the loft for long before this 1 mile toss its really strange that they would get lost,hopefully you get them back good luck,might be an idea to put some gps rings on some on another toss to see where they go

Your time difference theory is probably correct and I'm with Frank on this one.. Getting tossed at 5 pm in the afternoon when they have normally been going out in the early morning can prove confusing to them, especially on their first toss. Everything is new to them to start with and the time difference just adds to their confusion.. Hopefully you get a few birds back in the next couple of days. I'm sure you will. Lets hope anyway.

No, this is impossible! How long had they been loft flying? If they were ranging, one mile should not be a big hurdle for them. Also you may want to fly your old birds and the YB may follow them back if they see the OB. One of my very last round YB was spooked by a hawk the other day and came back two days later by following my OB. I think your birds may trickle in in the next couple of days.

Is not far at all I do one and a half miles for my first toss not there yet but next week I let them out after 45 days lock down . Is not that you did anything wrong the birds have a hard time navigating all of the flyers have the same problem . You will get some back I hope . Many in my club breed over a hundred birds just because of that is something going on with them i don’t think is sickness but birds have hell of a time navigating. Take care

How far you released them as the first time? I released mines half mile first time and couple of times then increased the distance. I had zero losses. This tells you one thing. Poor homing instinct. But look the bright side. Birds unable to come back home from a short distance even young and first time better not to have than to have. Waste of food and time. Look the bright side and be happy. Those 7 probably are the ones you need inside your loft. The rest may be should stay outside the loft. I watch all your videos. Very informative. Greetings from Staten Island.
