Hey that 103mph is me! Just so everyone knows Im not hating on the 101mph in grass, that is BADASS and a huge accomplishment. My video quality wasnt the best but its not super smooth like it seems. There are some bumps/ruts and it is dusty so traction is part of the issue. Its not as easy as just running it on that surface and guaranteed speed. I went to try and go faster earlier this year and couldn't even beat my 103mph. It's el mirage dry lake where I ran in case anyone wants to know. No bitterness on my end.. I'm just having fun with toy cars!

Your track definitely looked unstable to run at. Grass has more resistance but is more controlled. So who’s to say which is faster? Better question I guess is, who’s got the bigger smile at the end of the day. :)

It's a dry lake bed. I would not consider that "off road" any car on the planet could drive on it and be completely fine.

roman roads were made from pebbles. the guy was on hard dirt. it woudnt stand a chance on grass.

Grass vs salt/dried river bed shouldn't be debated, Grass has way more friction plus the uneven terrain. For me the Sausage is a true off-road RC car with the the world record!

Some off road surfaces are going to be better (easier) to speed run on than others. Same can be said for on road too. More power to you for getting 100+ on that grass field! We can all agree that is more a challenge than doing the same on El Mirage dry lake.

off-road speed record should be in grass or loose dirt only. Bonneville salt flats isn't considered off-road even though it's not asphalt or concrete. Kind of like cheating a bit. Keep it up Kev always love the videos 👊👊👍👍

That mini motorcycle looks interesting. Can't wait for the video on that. I love the smaller scale rc stuff. Used to fly big rc helicopters but it so much effort to go to a field and fly them. I now have an OMPHOBBY M2 and an Oxy2 and love those.

May not be practical for any real use but I would love to see two FULL Kratons on the snowboard chassis. So 8-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering. The one in the rear is pointing backwards with gearing\motors reversed so the steering is all the way in the back - but it still drives the snowboard forward.

I think this is why things like classes and agreed conditions become a thing when people start to race or compete. So everyone can agree on the result….well that’s what’s supposed to happen anyway. Best I think you can do is have gentlemans agreement with anyone else who is chasing the same goal. Great stuff as usual Kev.

I agree with Kev, but he also has a point of On Road and Offroad. In my opinion Offroad is grass, dirt, rocks, and sand. Anything else is basically On Road. The salt flats is kinda both. So how you test that is you put Slicks and offroad tires on 2 cars and whoever wins a drag race, that's the surface.

the definition of off road is unpaved surfaces such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, snow, rocks, and other natural terrain. But in my eyes you was way more off road than the 103 one .. on that kind of surface you would totally smash the record :D. great job :)

Off road would be any condition that is not “road” like. (Ex: pavement/concrete, smooth, super flat etc..) off Road Could be grass, dirt, stones, whatever. That 103 if u watch the video has bumps and loose dirt flying, so would consider that off road probably. Great series either way kev. Keep it up mate. 😁👍

It would be cool to see if you could turn an X-maxx into something you could race 😅 Put some nice racing truggy tires on it, a fast servo, change the steering geometry so it sits low, give it some shock oil that improves it's handling, put one of your racing red truggy bodies on it....And see if you can sneak it into a truggy race!

Flat Sand beds areas are where world records are made. So I say 103 it counts as an off road record. All you need to do is find a longer park. Great channel keep it up. I think you like a challenge!

Nicely said Kev! My idea is kinda big but... You get some friends together and plan a trip to the salt flats. Haul "The World's Best" monster truck, the Lamborghini, the sausage, etc. etc. You can set a new "off-road" speed record and the new farthest jump both at the place. Not to mention so many other ideas for great content you could come up with! You the man!

Grass is before Mud and gravel one of the hardest Terrains! 101mph is a big number and record worthy! Try to ask at the Golfcourse. If you can drive it there, you definitly get it to 104mph+

Go the beach and run it on the flat sand. Off road and perfectly flat if you find a nice stretch.

I ran my personal vehicle on the Bonneville salt flats, was an amazing experience being from Texas and never around that sort of thing lol. It took 5 car washes to get all the salt out of my truck 😂

Just my opinion as an Australian, where grass does not grow without watering. Off road is dirt, sand or clay. This means a hard flat beach is off road. ie the salt flats are off road.

I think the 'Sassuage' is definitely the fastest grass racing car,,, and the fastest real Offroad car,,, and I am sure you will get 104 on grass,,, and that is truely incredible,,, but your completely right that is all only for a smile on the face,,, nice video,,, my face got a smile when I have seen your video,,, mind blowing awesome,,, great work :)

You could always try it on a road just to see what it can do as a best-case benchmark. Then you could make a reasonable guess at a salt flat, mud flat, etc etc

I understand it would be costly, but... if you machined billet aluminum into a wheel/tire combo that looked like the ones in the video, you wouldn't have to worry about the rubber flying off. and maybe try the runs at that golf course if you can find a longer flat spot :D

You have easily the most capable fastest multi-surface off road car. That thing can handle many types of off-road surfaces with large uneven areas.

Honestly Kevin...think of motorcycles...we put on aftermarket exhausts and on the packaging it says "for off road use o ly" meaning NOT the street (obviously) but also not considering the bumpy grassland as "offroad" They just mean a track...like a racetrack 😉

I think the secret for your buggy blowing past the records is the tires. Even with the re glued tires it still had tire growth and de lamination potential. If it was me I would get some wheels machined an 1" or bigger diameter and have the traction lugs just machined directly onto the rim making them one piece with the tire. The metal lugs will grip but the wheels will spin at 3000 rpm easily probably 5000 rpm without serious engineering. Regardless even if you don't worry about it the last run was truly epic. Just a thought anyway Cheers

If you want to take bumpiness into the equation you will have to quantify that somehow. Otherwise you can always argue which level of bumpiness really counts as off road. But world record on grass! That has a ring to it!

Your top speed if not limited by gearing is a mixture of rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag, with aerodynamic drag usually the most dominant. Since there is no attempt to close gaps etc. There must be a few miles an hour gain you can make there, gaffa tape will do. Those tyres are solid which is what you need but the spikes are very draggy, the tops are going into wind at 200 mph. So, you could put them on a drill and sand them down to the smallest spike you think you need. That'll be worth another few mph, they will also be less prone to ballooning as they have less mass. I want to see 111mph!

Sausage is 800KV x2 at the minute & the turquoise RC car with double motors has x2 70125 SD 560KV motors. There are other better KV Max4 Motors Kevin! 56113 SL 800KV - 5687 SL 1100KV - 4985 SL 1650KV < that's got to be the winner right? 👍

I wouldn't count a flat as "offroad" because the resistance between wheel and surface is greater on actual offroad surfaces.. Kevs record stands.

On road is on a paved and prepped road surface, off road is not on a paved and prepped road surface. For arguments sake, prepped can mean any form of maintenance performed on the surface to ensure its uniformity including sweeping, tamping, rolling, etc.
