there is a guy who posted on reddit. He ordered his 4070 Super yesterday on Nvidia's website and it got delivered today. 16hrs from order to delivery. So yeah, these GPUs are NOT scarce lol.

Yup. A friend ordered one yesterday on Amazon and it'll be delivered tomorrow. Not as fast as the delivery you're talking about, but fast enough. This card is readily available for fast delivery through multiple different retailers. Effing ebay scalpers, man. Scum of the earth.

When they're saying that the 4070 Super is "sold out", they're referring to the FE model being sold out and not the AIB models.

That's because nobody wants it. *It's still 12GB, still 192-bit.* The 4070 (non-"SUPER") is really a 4060, and the "SUPER" is really the 60Ti. The 60-class is supposed to MATCH or even BEAT the previous-gen 80-class. Except the 4070 (non-"SUPER") actually *LOSES* to the 3080 by up to 9% (at 1440p and 4k). So it's really a 60-class, the "SUPER" is a 60Ti and *the real 70-class is now $800.* 😐 How tf did we get to $800 from $379 in just 3 generations? 😠 Ngreedia gonna greed.

3080 launched with 10 and was later upgraded to 12, which people are now saying is not enough. especially at 4k where the 24gb really helped pull performance gains, I was getting around 60fps in RDR2 @4k on my 3080 found a 3090 at a decent price bought it sold the 3080 and i now get around 90fps @4k with no change to the graphical settings, so it's not always just the 10% avg

@@tlreclipse1126 The max I ever saw RDR2 allocate was 9GB of VRAM in Saint Denis at 4K ultra settings on a 4090. Going from 60 to 90 is a 50% increase which is a BS percentage without proof.

Plenty of people say it is best buy sadly. But is not selling as nvidia expected. In Romania sosts are 700 euro for cheap models - 900 euro for Asus TUF. Crazy stuff. I understand you need a GPU but why defend a greed price ..hard to understand. also 12GB VRAM as you pointed.

Sitting in line for 7 days back during 2021 for my 3080 I met lots of people in line. Some gamers, some miners, and the very worst kind of people in line, were the scalpers.

@@beanslol1725 when you're in line for a week, spending night after night, you get to know who you're standing in line with. Many were nice. I met some miners, who were nice, they're not afraid to tell you what they're doing. I'd casually ask which item are you in line for. Some would say 3080, 3090, 3070. The scalpers would always say, "it doesn't matter". Or "I don't care". The gamers or miners would talk about their build, the gamers would talk about games they play. I was usually primarily for deep learning and tensorflow based software. Maybe 1% of it would be for gaming. one guy was there building a gaming pc for his daughter. The scalpers were mostly underemployed or even willing to sell you their spot in line. But they were usually rude, and they would "try" to let their trashy friends cut in line which was a BIG no no. There were fights and the cops WOULD come and kick you out if you were line cutting. In fact the day I actually got my 3080 there were 3 fights in line and the cops came to boot people out. There were 300 people in line the day I finally got it. Scalpers cause issues, and have a bad attitude and will even call people in line a bunch of nerds and loses. nerds maybe, geeks yes. Losers? Meh, we make enough money to feed our hobbies while they were in line because they don't earn enough money in real life that their only source of income is to scalp gpus.

The problem is that scalping is often a fairly low-effort, low-risk venture. The low risk is due to how most places offer free returns within a decent window, so if the product isn't selling like you thought... just return it. Imagine if the high demand items also came with a 10% restocking fee if returned (regardless of state); I think you'd likely see less folks willing to take the gamble.. especially with a mid-generation refresh like these Super cards.

Most likely, those scammers/sellers don't have the card at home. When someone buys one, they go to a shop or order 1 online by express mail and sent it over to the EBay seller.

4070 supers in my area are loaded on the shelfs and can't be sold. Moore's laws is dead just made video about how they aren't selling also. But these scalp prices are rookie numbers. On offer up the other day I saw some tool trying to sell a old used 3090ti for $2,000 🥴🥴 Just check again right now and now another used founders 3090ti is $1,600..

They've sold out some specific brand/colour combinations where I am even at a US$732 MSRP. Who are the idiots buying them when US$750 will get a 4070ti I dunno. But the great majority of stock in the high volume configurations are still in "plenty of stock" status. If we could buy them near US MSRP they'd sell well. But we can't, and even the 4070 Original have gone up US$66 not down. At this point AMD don't even need to discount their 7800XT.

Some of the models are sold out on places like Newegg but they're definitely not selling as well as I assumed they would. I expected them to sell out quickly like the 7800xt did when it launched in September but nah they're easily available right now, I think AMD might not even need to change the 7800xt's price it seems given the relatively mediocre sales of the 4070 Super

eBay is global. Fe cards are only sold in the USA, and parts (not all) of Canada. Also a card might be 600$ in America, but 1200$ in another country. Gamble that customs doesn't hit you with the full value of the import tax, and just mark it as a 600$ item instead of 600$ electronic. Also here they don't charge sales taxes on imports, another potential reason to order online. There's a whole world out there, many reasons to buy online. Hell, there's places where the cards are banned entirely, but you can drop ship through other countries or companies that are willing to sanction bust.

Have you seen european prices? Amazon makes us pay about 100 euros more than we should. 599 USD is about 549 EUR, yet 4070 Super cards aren't going for less than 700 EUR, which makes it about 764 USD. But NOBODY talks about that.

Europe includes taxes on the price. On top of that, you also pay for the import taxes that the retailer has to pay to bring the product into europe. You could start looking outside of Amazon though, you will definitely find better prices depending on where in europe you are. Also, in many European countries if you or a family member is self employed, you can purchase the pc parts and deduct the tax during checkout if you can provide proof that you are exempt from the tax as a self employed person.

unfortunately msrp prices are only in nvidia stores, i'm in search for new card and the cheapest 4070 Ti i found is for equivalent of $760, considering US dollar falls to other currencies recently. I never seen msrp in non-nvidia stores. Used 3090 go for 600 cheapest and usually toasted after mining.

What really PO'd me about scalpers was they were trying to "justify" being a re-seller (like any other store) and they're adding "value" because they have the product and/or could get it to you. Kinda hard to say you're adding value when you're stripping away any basic store benefits like return/replacements and warranty when most of them require you to be the original purchaser of the card.

Excellent video, Greg! Speaking from personal experience and what some friends have told me over the years, eBay is the go to destination for buyers who are based out of the USA. Their local prices are ridiculous or the item is simply not available. Buying from some etailers is not an option either because their payment methods get declined. So they turn to eBay and therein lies the reason some sellers know they can charge absurd prices and get away with it. Also, some may point out that the sellers only ship locally to the USA and not abroad, very true, so the buyers use shipping forwarders who give you a local USA address to ship your items to.

In Europe you can’t buy from NVidia directly or at least in most countries you can’t. Here in the Netherland you can’t even buy the Founders Edition directly you need to buy it through some weird German site. And local stores are also massively marking up prices. The cheapest 4070 i can buy right now are 675,- including shipping in euro which is 740 dollars or close too that. So is it scalping or is it just people selling with the EU market in mind.

In Australia the MSRP on the 4070 Super is within US$20 of the RETAIL PRICE most of the cheaper 4070 Ti sell for. It's within US$50 of what you can buy a 7900XT for. Original 4070 prices have actually jumped back up AU$100/US$66 because of the release of the 4070 Super. Yes, the inferior product that Nvidia gave a PRICE CUT has actually jumped up US$66 rather than falling US$50 as expected. The only question I have is should I buy the 4070 Ti at that price before the 4070 Ti Super comes out and increases the price of the 4070 Ti by $100. Because that seems what's likely to happen when that comes out next week too. I know the answer. It's not between the 4070/ti and it's super variants, they've actually decreased in bang per buck from a week ago. It'll be between the 7900XT and a big flip of the bird to Nvidia, and hanging on to my previous generation card and flipping the bird to both of them and waiting for Intel Battlemage B980.

I don't think the Founders Edition cards are reference. They're a custom design using. They also benefit from getting first dibs on the best of the best GPU dies, the AIB cards get whatever is left lol.

@@garetht677 The reference board is an entirely separate thing, it's what they send to the board partners so they can base their designs on it. Nvidia did a fully custom design for the Founders Edition cards separate from that.

Watch Moore's Law is Dead, he just did a video on this, and has proper information from his sources, it has sold very bad and most retailers have rejected it as they can't sell it at the price, a lot has also been said of the 12GB of VRAM it has, most people would have liked 16GB in 2024.

@@fortunefiderikumoThe 4070 isn't selling great, but it's selling in bigger numbers than the 4060 ti, 4070 ti, 4080 and 4090. In other words, it's selling better than some of the worst value graphics cards we've had in years, maybe even decades.

The 4070Ti cache was cut to 48MB, so it’s closer to 4070ti than a 4080. Watch the scalpers try on that one.

Benefit of these Supers coming to market is going to be in the Used market as people are starting or going to be starting to offload the Ti's and 80's soon for good prices. the 4070 Super with it's performance and price is about where I am comfortable to buy at, over $650 and I get second thoughts.

There's no value in 40 series, the 7800 xt is a good option, as for the 50 series it's looking like only a 80 and 90 series will be released, so Moore's Law is Dead has said in December, AMD will be having the low to mid range market to themselves.

What I don't understand is why the lower end cards have the same 12V connecter requirement when their TDP is much lower than the higher end cards, not to mention that the TDP is nearly identical to previous generation cards. That makes you lose a bunch of sales because there are a number of people who run a PSU that doesn't have the connector. The PSU can handle the card properly no problem but it came out before this was a thing. If someone can afford to buy the card but not the card and a new PSU then they won't buy the card. Simple as that.

because no one needs and care about Amd cards anymore, all Ai industry works on proprietary Nvidia Cuda libraries, i need new card for that, people who want to play in such sheet like Starfield are not normal. You can buy a game console, same limited function as AMD GPUs. Ai will be everywhere and is everywhere, Amd not compatible with it, it's a headache to tune it work with simple LLMs, they won't be able to catch up Nvidia.

Amd cards remind me the gazillion number of proprietary cards for IBM PCs made in 1980-90s which making good videos today, but no one can use them in any IBM PC, makers gone, no drivers, no instructions, a rarity e-waste, many weird accelerators and dev boards.

My advice would be wait a few months to a year for the 5000 series. The life of the card with 12GB of VRAM will be sub 3 years (its already showing as not enough inc cases like AI, and some games.) It's a dumb price with that crippling VRAM and memory bus. The 5060 will probably smash it for cheaper and the 5070 will be a huge leap ahead for roughly the same price most likely. The only people who should buy this card are those with a £600 hard limit who are upgrading in a year or 2 anyway.
