That particular box again! That box seems to be jinxed. Many, many more horses throw a wobbly when in that box for no apparent reason. The other box, usually we can discern a reason for the horse being upset. A tourist harassing the horse. Protesters. Tour guides with large flags waving them in front of the horse. But that left hand box, looking from the road , often there seems to be no discernable reason.

Animal cruelty once again. This is a never ending problem with these people. The Brits seem to condone the abuse. Sad, the RSPCA should step up, but it has become a complacent organization in the UK.
@Fishhead2172 ай бұрын
You are way out of line! These horses are better looked after and cared about than a lot of children are. If you truly believe this, get in touch with the Kings Guard and specify your concerns. You’re being just a tad over dramatic.

@@Fishhead217 I may be out of your line, but I am in the line that counts. Animal abuse should always be called out.
@Fishhead2172 ай бұрын
@@goodcitizen3638 a horse reacting to too many people crowding around them and they pull their head back or move away does not constitute animal abuse! What’s the matter with you? Do you seriously think that any guard or police officer would tolerate any for of abuse? They love and care for these horses which is evident when a guard walks over to check the horse and talk to the mounted guard. The horses invariably put their heads down to nuzzle their fried. The horses are only there for an hour at a time. Their wellbeing is paramount! You’re making yourself sound like an alarmist! Bottom line, these horses are not being abused. Horses are very sensitive creatures and if they were abused, their spirit would be broken. These are beautiful, feisty and often very sweet horses. You are dead wrong!

@kateking39532 ай бұрын
They are horses! Horses aren't babies to be wrapped in blankets and put in prams with hoods up. They can manage a bit of our English rain. In fact when they're in fields they do get wet because it rains here A LOT.

These are the King's horses and you can rest assured that they live a life of horse luxury. I am told that they work an hour a day for a maximum of 3 days a week. They have rest periods and beach holidays and receive the best stable care and veterinary care. They are well treated and well loved. Remember that a Trooper is on the horse in the same rain and cold, and would be less tolerant of the outdoor weather than a horse. I recall one particularly hot day last year, when they brought the horses in from the heat. So need need to worry about these beauties.
@annbeirne95832 ай бұрын
Yes the horses are well looked after" Horses in the wild or out in fields find shelter, some horses have water proof blankets. All horses do not like wind or rain especially in their faces, in the normal run of things they turn their backsides to the bad weather, in the sentry box this isn't available to them so they do their utmost to get away from the inclement weather. This then leads to anxiety at not being able to get away from its worry, they then do their level best to try and find another way to cope which is the strong desire to get back to the warm stables. This doesn't account for all of the need to get away from the weather, I believe they don't like the energy around the crowds they are very sensitive to atmosphere, so I think this is why the want to leave the box at other times. I understand your worry, but these horses are loved and if you have watched before you will see the guards back their horses as far as they can into the boxes to keep them as dry as possible. I do think the choice of cobbles inside and outside of the box a bad choice, horseshoes on cobbles is like ice skates to ice rinks but horses are not skaters.

I used to care for a horse who loved being out in the rain. She was a complete pain to get indoors. Wouldn't even use the field shelter. Absolutely a dream to handle otherwise and walked into her stall herself at locking up time.
