In this episode (which is part 2 of a long day!) I am trying to reach Salento in Colombia. On the way, I pass some very tall palm trees (wax palms) that even turn out to be the tallest palm trees in the world. Not what I expected at 2500 meters altitude in the Colombian mountains!

One of the best services you provide your viewing public, Noraly, is a glimpse into the reality of our fellow humans throughout the world. As a solo female traveler, I had to first overcome all the conditioned fear I carried within myself. Now I find I need to constantly help my friends and family understand that, wherever I go, people are mostly kind, helpful, and friendly, (especially to a traveler trying to navigate their way through unfamiliar territory). Even if they never choose to do anything like it, it can't help but open their minds and hearts to other cultures.

@@canuckwing0195 This is true. On a motorbike it is much easier to stop and connect with local people. It also helps that whenever you travel solo you are much more approachable. @@Joe-co4sq, yes I’ve been riding/racing much of my life and I totally agree with you. I can also appreciate that she’s riding a LOADED DOWN CRF300 which is not as capable as the KTM you raced or my 300te Husqvarna. She has become an impressive rider to navigate that nasty, rutted, muddy, tree root covered terrain. Sometimes she does it in the pouring down rain and makes it look easy. Noraly has my complete respect. There’s lots of people on Noraly’s channel that don’t ride and that are here for the entertainment. I hope those that do ride comment on just how hard and physically demanding it is to ride on that terrain. Sometimes she’s even hanging off of her seat filming with a selfie stick. RESPECT TO YOU NORALY.👍

I guess I’ve taken my 20 years of riding experience for granted. Surprised to see that you and some others consider this “extraordinary” skills where it seems ordinary to me. I was griping the entire time she needed to get that back wheel spinning when at some speed to throw the mud off. If you’re truly skilled, you don’t go through muddy trails that slow, you hit them fast and hard, more grip.

I had to laugh at the word “peasant”. It just really struck me. In English, that carries a very disparaging connotation. I know in Spanish, its equivalent “campesino” carries no such baggage. Just noting the differences in the languages/cultures. FYI, for native English speakers the word “local” does not carry the same negative implications. I have ridden longer than Noraly has been alive and while I'll lift the front wheel and spin the back tire enough to impress the boys, Noraly is much better at getting from point A to point B without crashing or breaking a motorcycle. Oh Colombia. What a place! We rode the same gravelly back road as you! It wasn't as muddy though. Gorgeous riding and many friendly locals through there. My wife fell off her bike and a gentleman came running out of the bush and helped her pick it up and get going again. @Itchy Boots There is an AMAZING little town a bit further north of Solento called Zapatoca. By far the best little place we ended up in the entire Americas in my opinion. Amazing riding to get there and totally worth it. We stayed for weeks. There's a oddly fantastic Don Quixote museum there. Unfortunately our Espanol wasnt the best and I feel we really missed out.

These are really some difficult situations you put yourself in. But that's completely understandable, because that's what the adventures are. This looks like an adventure from a Tomb Raider video game, the scenery, the roads and of course Norely. I'm impressed by all the friendly and helpful people she meets, always smiling and willing to lend their help, feed her, give her drinks, directions or a place to stay. Not like that here in the USA, everybody seems weary of strangers and venturing into the wrong neighborhood can cost you your life. I think what I've come away with from following Norely is that most of the world is not as scary as I thought .

Venturing into the 'wrong neighborhood' can cost you your life in most countries of the world , not just in the US. I'm sure there are unsafe places in Colombia. Rural people the world over are more friendly and less dangerous than their urban counterparts. Noraley spends very little time in the big cities.

Saludos.

Glad to know that you're having fun in the countryside of my country. A couple of hints, 1) people in the countryside or even in towns usually say "buenas" as an informal way to say "hello". 2) a quick honk with the bike's horn is usually another way to say "hello" in a quick way to the others riders of bikes or buses or cars.
