This is probably the most common thing I’ve heard over the last 9 months (I’M DUE NEXT WEEK!!!). But while I’m not denying that truth can exist, I also intend to fight back against it since I decided to have a kid BECAUSE I was happy with my identity and life, not because I desired a whole new one. ⠀⠀

And that’s the creative direction behind this shoot! I wanted each frame to represent a part of me + @enjoyjaredbrady that our daughter could share in or directly benefit from.⠀⠀

So many mothers lose themselves and their identity in their children. This is such a powerful message Shan. It is exactly the type of motherhood I want to embody someday. It's interesting to hear that a lot of mothers lose themselves in their children. I never knew that was a thing before, but I've been hearing that more and more lately. I'm grateful that my mom has never lost herself or her identity in me and my brother. She was never an overly sexual person but she was the type to be spontaneous and get up and go places and she still does that to this day. It got a bit harder after she had kids but you best believe she wasn't letting anyone stop her from going places lol. Not even her own husband, my dad. She loves going out to eat at restaurants, going to movies, etc. And when my brother and I were little she'd take us with her, even if my dad didn't feel like going out for whatever reason on any given day. And she made sure my brother and I were well behaved too. So I hope when I become a mom someday, I can remain myself too :)

So many people allow themselves to slip away from their true identities once they have kids. Its unfortunate, but its important to remember that you're still you after you have a kid. You're just you...with a kid.

God yes. Falling more into this frame of thinking every day. I'm a mommy of two now and I just gave birth to my daughter early this year. To have now both a son and daughter I'm able to really get re introduced to me and these beautiful new layers. I love being a Mother so so incredible

It's like the "brand" of motherhood is that a mom is supposed to change and people expect that experience to translate to all mom's and that's just not how the shit works. What lesson are these people trying to instill in you? Conformity? Your intentions have been clear from even before you informed us all of your pregnancy, and it's still clear today. Those photos are a beautiful extension of you, and can't nobody else define what your life as a mother will and should look like.

Yes because she’s 40 weeks pregnant. She’s bloated, lungs and such are being pushed by a heavy fetus. So she sounds a little stuffy and fatigued.♥️

It surprised me how things actually stayed the same after having a baby. Well, two babies in my case, twins. The only thing that really changed is most of my time right now goes towards my babies. And that I am always in an alert state. But I still like getting freaky with my husband, I still like to create stuff, I still like having a drink, I'm still me. Your photos are amazing. ❤️

I believe what this rebuttal is about is not losing yourself in motherhood, which I agree with completely. I am not one interested in losing my identity to my daughter, my husband or even to my work or even to growing older. I also agree with all those that said that motherhood changes you, because it does. I see both sides of it and see less of the beef with either. Edit: By change I mean growth and evolution. All the experiences we have in life change us and I welcome change as a positive.

Only 4 min in and I love this! One of the greatest advice I received post-giving birth was from my mom when she told me to incorporate my daughter into my life, rather than the other way around. And the pieces of myself that I was longing to hold onto the moment I gave birth she advised me to begin to reintroduce one of those aspects at a time after giving birth and to not rush it but to stay intentional and in the moment. It is so true. My daughter fits into my life and my priority is also to remain steady in who I am bc that is who dreamt of my daughter ✨

All I know are mothers my sister cousins best friend and they cry everyday they can’t even have time to themselves their whole life changed and that’s because that’s what being a mother is ..your responsible for a human being and then you still need to eat shower take care of the house and manage a social life which from my friends they don’t have one. I always said if you want kids your giving up your freedom and that’s why I chose not to have any. Freedom is everything for me anyways

I honestly lost myself for about 2 years. I breast fed. I am finally finding myself again and my son is almost 3. I was for so long his mother. I lost Ria. I’m glad I’m Ria and learned to be his mom at the same time. I honestly think it depends on the woman.

You’re so pure! I absolutely love you! Because of you I embraced being an open book and fully accepted all of me. I had so many people trying to mold me into their idea of what a mom or woman should be, and even tho I never listened, it still got to me. Now I’m fine, I love me and embrace all of me. yall are so bomb! i absolutely love you and jared and the energy you both bring! these pictures are beautiful so s/o to your team too. it's so crucial to normalize pregnant women being more than a Russian nesting doll.
