Honestly, I feel like the only couple I legit felt invested in that's between a girl and a guy is TK and Nanno from Girl from Nowhere, and it was literally just one episode and not even a romance series. There was no sex or cliche dialogue, just a genuine connection with multiple layers. If you haven't watched it yet I highly recommend it sksksk

Angel: My only goal in life is to be rich and pretty Me, a PhD candidate: Okay but honestly same P.S. the unnecessary narration is happening because the writer/director clearly had no idea how to adapt a first person narrated book (I assume the book is in first person POV), so instead of trying to get across the character's thoughts/feelings in a natural way he just stuck a bunch of straight-out-of-the-novel narration in to the movie.
