That guitar solo! Speaks to me in a way words can't. Pink Floyd are deeper than the Mariana trench, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen and more zen than 1,000 Buddhist monasteries. Thanks for the reaction bro!

The second solo is considered by many to be the greatest guitar solo ever. When the disco ball comes down and opens up, in the middle is a diamond, a nod to Syd Barrett.

Pink Floyd was not ahead of their time. They created their own time and space. Pink Floyd helped my spirit and soul develop as a young girl in the 70s. I feel like they are a part of me and I know my life would be different if they weren’t with me on my journey. When it’s my time to leave I take solace knowing they will be with me.

Everyone sees further by standing on the shoulders who went before. Roger Waters felt the same when he heard Sgt Peppers for the first time. Without Sgt Peppers we would never have got Dark Side of the Moon. But why did artists give up climbing the heights in favour of lesser things? Punk was at its height when the Wall came out.

You're right - I truly believe that Pink Floyd will still be listened to a hundred years from now. Not routinely for most, but they will be studied in music classes and held up as the premier example of prog rock, and the amazingly creative period of music that was the 60's - 80's, and there will still be those who light one up while drifting away on some PF. People still listen to Mozart - PF is my Mozart.

David Gilmore knows why he is here . He’s pursued that destiny everyday of his life . Many of us learned how to play an instrument but to be blessed with the creative mind required to put together such masterpieces is otherworldly . Maybe he can’t see it , being on the inside looking out , but to the rest of us , this is the eighth wonder of the world . I never had the privilege of seeing them in concert . Now that brief moment is gone . I don’t miss many concerts anymore .

I was there :) The real highlight was the encore: They played the entire Dark Side Of The Moon with all the original screen footage in the 2nd half (special note goes to One of these days with double pigs and the plane crashing into the tower earlier in the concert) I might also mention, for 2 days before the concerts (they sold out 4 nights there) there were 'warnings' of UFO's flying over London on Radio 1 (kudos to Simon Mayo) , and one the first night part of the seating scaffold collapsed on one side of the arena: David Gilmour personally went to the hospital to visit every fan who was injured.

I was at this concert in Earl's Court, London. The gig was pulled just as the intro for SOYCD was building up for the opening of the show due to a seat collapse. Some injuries but no fatalities thank goodness. We were told to keep our ticket stub and came back two weeks later and they blew us away. One of the Greatest Rock Performances ever, possibly the GOAT Rock guitar solo too! Certainly, with all the lasers, incredible light show, phenomenal musicianship and the level of production here, and everything else is off the charts! It sounds Sooo good and it's 1994, no Autotune or computers or any crutch of any kind, they did it all right in front of you! Just a note: There are only 3 actual members of Pink Floyd here onstage, in fact there were only 3 members of PF from 1985, (when Roger Waters quit the band) up until 2008 when Rick Wright died from Cancer. It's easy to tell which ones they are, they're the 3 old guys, lol,... David Gilmour, (guitar), Rick Wright, (keyboards, and Nick Mason, (drums). The other musicians onstage are Pink Floyds' touring band for that time or that tour'. Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1964, so this Pulse Concert is 30 years later, so PF guys are all in their late 40s and early 50s. Check out "Sorrow" from the same 1994 Pulse Concert, another great guitar solo from David Gilmour. There are so many from that Pulse Concert on KZfaq and they're all unbelievably great, like "High Hopes", "Money", "Learning to Fly", and many more.

The big disco ball is highly symbolic. First of all, it wasn't seen until the lights spotted it. It was simply not there! Hidden in a box in the ceilling. So when it got lit, you can understand why the audience went wild. And then, when it opened up and showed the shining diamond that's inside, a direct reference to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which refer to Syd Barrett), the fans understood! Genius!

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

It's amazing to watch a person listen to a band that has been your absolute favorite for over forty years! And no one over the years has been able to move them from this place!!! "Shine on you crazy diamond" - for me, an absolute explosion of the brain and the most favorite song.

I was there. Amazing. Loved seeing your reaction... pretty much my reaction at the time. Saw them live first back in '73... this pulse tour in 1994 was one of the most precise, performances and productions I've ever seen. So happy for everyone who's seeing this for first time... it'll be just as good 30 years from now. 👍

Watching this, I found myself wishing I could hear the song for the first time again! But the first time hearing was when I attended the Pulse shows in 1994! and there have been many thousands of repeat showings! This music is the soundtrack of my life and I get a real kick seeing someone discover its beauty. For this and your other reviews - subscribed! Thanks man

quick caveat that no one will read anyway. When I said my first hearing of the song was at Pulse, it was of course my first time hearing it live, I'd already played the AMLOR album to death by then!

Great review! Just subscribed to watch you go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. Having been a fan for 50+ years, I know they're going to blow you away! Personally been to quite a few of their concerts and saw Pulse twice, in 2 different states. It was an experience, not just a concert and IMO nobody compares to these guys who are masters of their craft! Just fyi, any song from Pulse is great but you may want to check out Sorrow from same concert. Another great guitar solo!

Yes, I can imagine as I was at the show in San Antonio. What totally blew me away was of course, the light show, but also the ENORMITY of the stage. Look at how small the performers look compared to how high the lights in the arc go. Can you imagine the roadies who have to assemble and disassemble that monster two or three times a week?

That guitar has bars. There are 3 songs happening here. The song being sung, the song being played, and the song being heard.

Saw them twice bro. The first time they had started playing Shine on You Crazy Diamond and I was running up the stairs to enter the indoor arena and was greeted by whie light and "smoke". I thought I had died and was in heaven about to meet the Maker. Six years later, saw them again on the Pulse tour. Then, in 2017, I got to meet him and his wife in person and express my gratitude.

There are no superlatives adequate to describe the Pulse concerts. Reduces me to a teary eyed wreck everytime I see and hear it. Pink Floyd are a British gift to the world. So proud of them. Also a great and unexpected live set was the Live 8 performance, the band had not played live together for 20 years, yet they delivered a set that soared accross the Londons night sky, it blew everyone away and there were some heavy hitters in that line up that day/night! Subsequently Dark side of the moon went back to number 1 in the album charts and a whole new generation got to see and hear progressive rock music at its absolute perfect best. Peace my friend I envy you starting out on your Pink Floyd journey✌️

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS
