The only reason it isn't rated higher is because most people reading OnePiece are _not_ One Piece Fans; they are _Zoro_ Fans, who merely tolerate One Piece and its "antics". Edit: "the only good part of this arc is kuma vs zoro and ryuma vs zoro" ... quoted from @midnite_in_november below... Case in f*cking point, and people wonder why I get salty about Zoro Fanboys slowly turning my favourite manga into the "Zoro and co. Show"

The fact that he was willing to give up on his dreams and ambitions to protect his captain, while staring HELL itself in the face, is so powerful. Then of course, he doesn't want his captain to know that he struggled for him.. the next episode explains it so much better but I cried like a 5 year old the first time I saw this episode.

Can we appreciate the fact that in a span of 3 months, this woman went from "Got a light?" to "Nothing happened"? This is the fastest speedrun of this series I've ever seen, which, until recently, included filler. It normally takes reactors 2-3 years to catch up, and that was over 5 years and 200 less episodes ago. I'm sure you'll be caught up before the series ends, which will be crazy but totally worth it. i also absolutely love her style of editing, i feel like you can afford to cut a lot if you do a good job regarding what you do keep in, i know in some other reactions i have sometimes the feeling of "they should have cut/kept that" but honestly here nothing comes to mind like that, been an absolute pleasure consistent, digestible and super fast, 10/10 the whole journey till then has been a blast, i can't even wait for stuff like marineford

It's been so great to rewatch it vicariously through her! Most of us can rewatch short Anime's like OG Trigun/Cowboy Bebop/Death Note anytime but long as shit like like OP is a tougher sell but she's moving at such a pace and condensing stuff and it's been an amazing ride.

It would be for different reasons though, as Sanji sees himself as expendable but Zoro just wants to save the crew and is the only candidate for the sacrafice.

Nothing Happened is just yet another one of the most iconic scenes in the series. And everything surrounding it too. The sheer terror Kuma brings, the fact that Sanji is willing to do the same thing for not only Luffy, but Zoro as well at that point. Despite how much they argue, both are willing to give their own lives rather than letting the other do it for them.

Spoilers I've seen different character analysis that attribute sanji's self sacrificing nature to his lack of self worth and it really shows in this scene. He worries about Zoro's dream without any regard for his own ambitions and even says that they'll need to find a new cook, implying that he sees himself as replaceable while I don't think zoro would even think about being replaced. Just goes to show the effects that the years of abuse in Germa had on his mental state. He even jokes about sacrificing usopp to save nami but is actually the one to risk his life saving usopp kinda sad

Those scenes with Zoro and Sanji - if people see that, I don't understand how they can think those two hate each other. They worry about each other. They care a lot. They're brothers. They pick on each other when they're bored. They have nicknames for each other instead of using their actual names, they compete all the time, but when push comes to shove, there's nobody tighter.

21:45 Just a small reminder of what Garp told the crew back at the end of Water 7: Dragon is Garp's son, and Luffy's dad. Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, and the top criminal in the OP world. One of the top Zoro moments of the whole show for me, for SURE. So badass. He's not squishy, but you can tell he deeply cares for his captain and crewmates. And yea, you're not lying! Kuma's a beeeaaast. If I were the Straw Hats, I'd much rather fight Moria than him.

It is a common thing for people to say Thriller Bark is the arc where "Nothing happened." People hear that and think it's not up to the level of other arcs and go in with low expectations, until this scene. It's always a pleasure to see people's reactions to Zoro here.

Amazing reaction! I just want to bring appreciation to the editing on your videos which I think goes unnoticed. The way you edit funny clips on different interpretations of the words and the way you edit your reaction overall is really good! You keep every important detail in and leave out the extra bits perfectly. Also, maybe some things you forgot but in post enies lobby its explained that dragon is luffys father. And in alabasta the dessert kingdom vegapunk is also mentioned there, hes the reason why that dog missile existed. He was able to make a weapon eat a devil fruit.

Hey Queen, in regards to that young maid you saw earlier (Margarita), her shadow was inserted into Cindry's corpse, hence why her zombie hated plates so much. Also, something you glossed over is the name, "Kaido". He's one of the four emperors, and it's because of him that Moria suffered a tragic defeat and adopted his lazy philosophy.

Two things I love about Thriller Bark, the Strawhats being put through the gauntlet with fighting Moria, Oars, and Kuma. It was awesome seeing them use combo attacks together. The second thing is the character moments. Seeing Zoro and Sanji willing to sacrifice their lives for Luffy is nothing short of awesome. But the cherry on top is Zoro taking all of Luffy's suffering throughout the arc, and somehow, he's still standing! Seeing that scene in the manga for the first time was nothing short out of epic!

one thing most people dont talk about is not only has Zoro earned the Fans respect in that nothing happened moment but i feel it gave Zoro a whole lot more respect for Luffy seeing how he basically felt all the pain and fatigue he went through. Not saying he didnt respect him before, but it feels like this reinforced it big time.

Thriller Bark was plantation coded. I don't think most people notice that. With inclusion of certain elements that will pay off later in ways you won't understand unless you already know certain knowledge, this arc was plantation coded. That's really interesting to think about because of what happens in the next canon arc. There's 1 filler arc between this and Sabaody Archipelago, I believe.

The Kuma fight is so good, because when Sanji, the guy who trained himself to kick people really hard gets his leg hurt trying to kick someone really hard tells you that this not a fight, but a one-sided beatdown. It really sets a tone for how things are going to be. Moira was not joking, things are only going to get tougher from here on out, and anything less than better then your best will not cut it.

I like that Brook’s backstory is after Robin’s struggles, because I think the contrasts and parallels are interesting. Robin had to see that she got a whole line of friends who cares about her while Brook tries to hang on with life because he knows he got his puppy whale waiting for him.

The amount of pain and fatigue Luffy endured was immense. Zoro's loyalty and sacrifice are immeasurable, and Luffy doesn't know that Zoro took it all unto himself TO THIS DAY. Only Zoro, Sanji, and Brook among the crew know. Luffy himself was beaten, bloody, and used Second and Third Gears TOGETHER for the first time in this arc... Zoro had his own injuries and fatigue from Oars and Ryuma. This is why he's the GOAT. Take note of these "Pirate King" moments. Usopp stood for Luffy's dream in Alabasta, through his own pain. Zoro lay his life down to protect Luffy's dream. These moments are rare, but they define the crew's loyalty. ... I apologize for leaving such a lengthy comment. I only leave you with a warning: Bring tissues for the next one.

Kuma is the prime example of why you don't judge a Devil Fruit by its cover. It's a power inspired by cats knocking shit off tables, and yet it's such a busted ability in practice. Being able to repel anything and everything, even to the point of shooting compressed air at high speed or making a bomb. It even lets you almost teleport around. I want whatever Oda is on, when he thinks of these powers.
