Happy St. Patrick's Day! Of course, it being an Irish holiday, what great way to celebrate here - the Notre Dame fight song!
Written in the early 1900s by Michael J. and John F. Shea, first debuted in 1909, with lyrical revisions in the 1920s and just recently in 2022, and played by America's first university band, this is the fight song for the Fightin' Irish of the University of Notre Dame.
Presenting what is known as one of the greatest of all university fight songs - the "Notre Dame Victory March"!
Hope you enjoy and Go Irish!
LYRICS
Verse 1:
Rally sons of Notre Dame:
Sing her glory and sound her fame,
Raise her Gold and Blue
And cheer with voices true:
Rah, rah, for Notre Dame
We will fight in ev-ry game,
Strong of heart and true to her name
We will ne’er forget her
And will cheer her ever
Loyal to Notre Dame
Chorus/Verse 2:
Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame,
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send a volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky.
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all,
While her loyal sons and daughters
March on to victory.
[repeat chorus/verse 2]
