The Notre Dame Fighting Irish pull out a victory in Blacksburg over the Virginia Tech Hokies, 32-29. Two different Hokies quarterbacks left the game with injuries, Braxton Burmeister and Connor Blumrick. Burmeister threw for 184 yards and rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown. Virginia Tech’s defense intercepted 2 Irish passes, including a Jermaine Waller pick-6 at the end of the 3rd Quarter that put Virginia Tech up 22-21 at the time. For the Irish, Kyren Williams rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown and caught 5 passes for 26 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Regardless how the rest of the Game went, that 2-Pt Conversion Catch by Kevin Austin was Great! Actually, Austin worked hard that entire play, came from nearly the opposite Sideline, and then boxed out the DB who was covering him... Then made a great catch! I still don't believe that Coan was throwing to Austin in that play... He just happened to be there at the perfect time.

Boy you could really tell the play by play guy was rooting for VT lol. He's like depressed every time he calls a positive play for ND towards the end of the game there. Tim seemed like he was neutral though.

Down 10-0 TB comes in and leads 2 TD drives to spark the offense. Not ready? Hhmm . . . 🤔 Did he make 2 freshman mistakes? Sure. Did you also see how the running game opened up with TB on the field? Yep. Because defenses have to respect the running ability of TB which opens it up for the RB’s as well. I like the idea that it should be Pyne & TB. Pyne alone? Absolutely not. Why do people forget the 5+ throws by Pine into double coverage and the multiple bad reads by him, presnap and after the snap? Maybe because 5 defenders have dropped the ball.

Yet another game where ND tries to give it away but still wins in the clutch. Not surprising considering the amount of starters they lost after the 2020 season and the amount of freshmen they’re playing this year. A W on the road in a hostile environment always feels good.

As an ND fan, I'm tired of them playing poorly against unranked teams. Brian Kelley needs to start drew Pyne if we want any chance to get a national championship trophy. I like Buchner but he is just not the answer. %80 of the time Tyler is in the game Brian just does the same thing, QB keeper. We can't just have a QB that's key feature is just running... Drew Pyne is the answer I believe and he deserves to start next game. Use the bye week to clean our act up and let's atleast look like a decent ranked team

@@Say-V-N ND's performance against unranked teams is not the problem, in fact quite the opposite! The Irish currently have the longest-running unbeaten streak in all of CFB against teams outside the Top 25. It is the performance against the Top 10 (especially top 5) that is the problem.

Coan is hard to watch. If this Line was Top notch he'd be ok. But absolutly no mobility. He's incredibly, painfully slow. Next game Start Pyne. Leave him in until he Fs up. Bring in Coan for one last chance. If they both blow it Bring in Buchner for the remainder of the season.

@@driger888 Coan was the man in the clutch, not for the whole game. Buchner did amazing at the beginning. He started having questionable reads in the second half, but still ran the ball well. He was playing his first meaningful minutes in a very hostile environment. He played great w a few mistakes that he will fix.

During the 2018 Citrus Bowl, Book came off the bench and led the Irish to a 21-17 victory over LSU.

ACC officiating is horrific once again. Horrible roughing the passer call and a debatable targeting call. So many missed penalties. Also the ACC network broadcasters aren’t neutral no matter how much they try 🙄

Tim Hasselbeck is not a very good analyst. I mean this dude was talking about why UNC lost to VT bc UNC had to play at VT? Hasselbeck really try to sell the homefield advantage by using a bad UNC team. Did Hasselbeck not realized that ND has players on this team who beat VT at Blackburgs in 2019? What does UNC have anything to do with ND? That analogy made my eyes criss-cross. Dont get it

Oh and one more thing. Yes Coan was throwing to Kevin Austin on the 2pt conversion play. If you look closely you'll see that Austin waved his hand at Coan for the ball. Even on replay you can see Coan eyes were looking at Austin. SMH

My fantasy Va Tech Hokies hires..d line coach (Bruce smith) bring back (Torrian Gray) to be secondary and cb coach..keep (justin Hamilton) for now as defensive coordinator..(Bill Teerlinck) is a coin flip..ill keep him but only for a probationary period.(Mike Vick) as the qb coach..he still can bring in recruits especially at the different positions as well on the QB level and state of va kids as well..especially from the tide water area etc..and for the head coach bring in Brent Venables)
