Nottingham killer's sentence should not change, says court of appeal

17 күн бұрынThe Court of Appeal has refused to change the sentence of Valdo Calocane, who killed three people in Nottingham last summer.
Calocane was given an indefinite hospital order after admitting the manslaughter of Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Three senior judges said that while Calocane's offences had caused "unimaginable grief", his sentence was not unduly lenient.

@@smudj8181I know alot about our criminal justice system, and also know if it was your family member that was murdered you'd prob have a different view on his sentencing go on tell me different then???

@shanepike7999 actually I wouldn't but you won't believe me anyway. Mental illness is a serious thing - and if you knew anything, you'd know our community services are a mess thanks to the tories. This could have been prevented You'd probably feel different if he was white tbh.

Life in a high security mental unit is actually a lot rougher than life in hi sec prison. source: I've worked in both.

There is justice. Not all justice is a death penalty or prison. Life in hospital isn't a life. He's not going to be having parties everyday. You also clearly have never had a family member with paranoid schizophrenia.

May these three people rest in peace and paradise. May they find everything they've ever wanted, needed, deserved, and more, and better, and the best. They did not deserve this. They deserved better, the best, and more. I'm so sorry that this happened to them and their loved ones. Nobody deserved this. I hope they get the justice they deserve and more.

Conservatives want to pull out of the ECHR. Which of your rights protected by that court are you happy to give up? And are you happy to travel abroad from a country that isn't a signatory; you could be imprisoned indefinitely without trial for any reason. Even as a hostage.
