कुछ noun जो हमेशा singular होते है | (a)...जैसे- luggage, baggage, breakage, furniture, drapery, imagery, scenery, poetry, pottery, machinery, work, paper, wood, iron, stone, glass, dust, rubbish, dirt, electricity, traffic, information, advice, chalk, food, bread, grass. ये nouns uncountable है | अतः इनके पहले न तो a/an का प्रयोग होता है और न ही इनके साथ s/es जोड़कर इनका plural बनाया जाता है; जैसे-- (१) What is poetry? [ न कि a poetry] (२) The scenery of kashmir is beautiful. [न कि The sceneries ] NOTE--~ एसे nouns के पहले आवश्यकतानुसार a piece of/pieces of/ a bit of/bits of/ a loaf of / loves of/ a heap of / heaps of आदि का प्रयोग आवश्यकतानुसार प्रयोग कर singular या plural verb प्रयोग में लाया जाता है; जैसे- (१) A loaf of bread [ न कि a bread या two breads] (२) Two loves of bread. (B) कुछ ऐसे nouns जिनके अंत में 's' लगा होता है [ अर्थात् स्वरूप में plural हैं] singular होते हैं - News, mathematics, ethics, linguistics, phonetics, politics, economics, darts, droughts, innings, mumps, measles, statistics, rickets, billiards, etc...
