All agents, no matter their origin story or composition, have one thing in common: a degree of ability to pursue goal states in some problem space. In Dr. Michael Levin's lab, they borrow agential concepts from cognitive and behavioral science to describe biological phenomena such as development, regeneration, and cancer suppression. To advance these concepts, they create computer-designed synthetic living beings that exhibit novel behaviors yet no specific evolutionary history. This talk not only highlights recent successes but explores the implication of these findings for regenerative medicine, cognitive science, and human flourishing.
Dr. Michael Levin is the Vannevar Bush Distinguished Professor of Biology at Tufts University, an associate faculty at Harvard’s Wyss Institute, and the director of the Allen Discovery Center at Tufts.

Michael, please get on Rogan. Do an hour of lecture and some Q and A. The largest platform in the world can get this information out, and the world needs this right now.

Well, let's not give big pharma too much advance notice. A lot of their cash cow products are going to be worth a whole lot less if we can regenerate tissues back to their optimal configurations. (e.g., if we can re-grow a properly-functioning pancreas, diabetes medicines are going to be not so much in demand. Same goes for the disease of any other organ we currently treat with pharmaceuticals.) I suspect this will be part of a two-pronged attack against disease, in conjunction with the kind of research being done by David Sinclair.

somehow I dont think Michael Levin reads newspapers - I mean when he speaks of the challenges ahead he pictures Cyborgs challenging us ethically - à la 'Bladerunner', I guess - not miltary industrial complexes that seem unaware of human purposes other than destruction, which have fused with nationstate governments

Yes, it's fine to talk about caring and ethics, but what if the novel life forms that emerge don't happen to care about us? Tears in rain indeed.

I refuse all those who wish to treat us as local system to manipulate and evolve how power that be see fit he past 80 years, but I do get the reason why you would. The fact that millions of American kids predicted code of life and phenotypical explanatory power is by default disproof of darwins postulations and notion of evolutionary mechanism. Horizon paradoxes don't permit it on most scales ,as now proven Newtons orientation and direction in non homogenous galaxies form and shape debunks that notion. We are not doing this in the future with sloppy Devine right to rule 1st position playing musical chairs of super positions to get the answer they Devine right rulers wish to be

@@spleendideed his conversations with Ian McGilchrist, Karl Friston, John Vervaeke ,to cite only a few, should clue you in. If that will not make you see the value on them talking together about the nature of being, perception, intelligence, evolution and the nature of being then I can't do much more.
