This match-up was really exciting! Nemo played great as usual, especially during time scrambles, but Noah impressed me with his strong openings and mid-game positional play. It took me a few minutes, but I figured out why the eval bar plummeted for Nemo at 16:12 when she played Qf3. It's because she needed to prevent Noah from playing pawn to b3. The reason b3 is so dangerous is because after Nemo captures it (axb3), Noah's ONLY good move is to sacrifice his Rook (Rxb3). When Nemo takes the Rook (cxb3), Noah can push his pawn to c2 which not only forks Nemo's King and Rook, but also guarantees promotion the next turn (cxd1). After Nemo takes the promoted piece (Kxd1), Noah wins the pawn on b2 with his other Rook and from there he's winning by a mile. Fortunately for Nemo, he missed that critical Rook sacrifice at 16:27 and instantly played the more natural move (cxb2). Perfectly understandable, considering the time pressure. He's got a bright future in chess for sure!

I often play with no increment online, but I think in OTB it's a bit silly. In these time scrambles, the "winner" is often whichever player is most careless -- not putting pieces properly on their squares, nudging the clock around etc.

I totally agree! Sometimes it depends on being right-handed, which most people are, and having the clock next to you on the right side, and you have the advantage because your hand can hit the clock faster than your opponent can! Fast games are very imperfect games, although they can be more exciting to watch than slower, better-played games!😮

16:28 noah had a rook sack. Rbxb3 if cxb3 then pawn c2 was a fork because rook is guarding. king to a1 only legal move. then you take the rook promote to queen the rook has to take because its check and then Qb2 is checkmate

You're correct. At 16:27, Noah's ONLY winning move is Rxb3. Because when Nemo takes the Rook (cxb3), Noah can push his pawn to c2 which forks Nemo's King and Rook and also guarantees promotion the next turn (cxd1). After Nemo takes the promoted piece (Kxd1), Noah wins the b2 pawn with his other Rook and from there he's way ahead. But to be fair, the move he played (cxb2) was a very natural move which is why he played it instantly. Under such time pressure, it's risky to spend 20+ seconds calculating a fancy sacrifice like Rxb3 because there's a chance it might not work. And even if it does work, he'd still be down a minute on the clock against the queen of dirty flagging 😅

Even In a rapid game. I’m making the move Qg2 it’s just too Juicy. Followed by takes or by h5. @0:43. I can’t instantly refute it but someone help me out.
