With the news that Jett Lawrence is out for the rest of the 2024 Pro Motocross season to say this championship has been flipped on it's head would be an understatement. Daniel Blair gets into some of the ramifications with Jett gone due to a thumb injury.

I think it could be exactly what Jett needs. He hasn’t had a break in 4 plus years, Imagine his fatigue mentally and physically. This gives him a chance to relax, get his body strong and regain the hunger. Rest up Jett, you’ve earned the right to relax and recover guilt free.

Summer is just getting start and there’s going to be some really hot races ahead and a higher chance of a bike issue so it’s definitely not over for him. It’ll be tough but I’d love to see him pull off a few wins and maybe have some luck go his way and get in the battle.

What people need to realize now is chase was making those mistakes because Jett was in his head and he wanted to beat him so bad that he would push it over his limits and end up going down. Hunter can’t run chase or Jett’s speed, we’ve already seen that when Jett, Hunter, and Chase start 1-2-3 and chase gets behind Jett, they go to another level and leave Hunter. With Jett out, Chase can focus on himself instead of being so worried about Jett. I can’t stand sexton but Hunter doesn’t have a shot against sexton

I think Chase vs Hunter might get spicy. Couple times now Chase has passed Hunter pretty aggressively. At the wick he dove across his front wheel and hunter pulled out of it. Idk how close they actually were but looked close enough on tv. Should be a good watch

Another epic video (as usual)! You made the call about Hunter on Gypsy Tales and with this turn of events, it is looking like him getting healthy is going to make for a great summer of racing. I think it is cool that the winning stays under the Lawrence roof. My hope is that Jett comes back by the end of the season along with Webb and Tomac. Thank you for putting this together so late at night. Congratulations to Evan on picking up momentum of his own! It is as if he has an in house coach/mentor or is pulling from some good genetics! He likes taking dirt samples trying to catch Jett… Jett is now out so Chase doesn’t have to ride on the edge to keep up with or beat Hunter. We’ve seen how Jett and Chase always leave Hunter when they are 1-2 because Hunter isn’t in that level. When Hunter is behind Jett, Jett knows he has Hunter easily covered and just rides right outside of hunters level and no more unless he has to.

It sucks when one of the top contenders, and especially the defending champion goes down and forced out with an injury, and it doesn't matter if you cheered for them or not. Now, it's now going to be an very interesting battle between Hunter and Chase and it's going to be fun to watch.

I strongly believe that , chase is under more pressure with Jett out. Now he's expected to win the title. It could have an effect on him, more than when he was racing Jett. We'll see how it plays out. I like chase , Jett, and Hunter. I'm happy with whomever wins.

Appreciate that Deegs might have his eye on Jett, but keep in mind that Hunter comfortably dealt with him last summer on a 250, and would have done so again in SMX but for injury.

As a 53 year old, who’s watched moto since I was 10 or so, I think so many podcasters get these types of story lines wrong. Yes Jett is awesome, but the days of Ricky and Jeremy type of domination are gone. The sport is bigger, drawing a deeper well of talent. It’s also much faster, and more dangerous. How athletes deal with injuries will be as telling as their talent, sometimes more so. Mental fitness/toughness will be as important as physical fitness. Saying that Chase and Hunters big chance is now, takes away from how hard they’ve been working to be in the position they are currently in. Chase already got his big break when Eli tore his Achilles tendon. I’m pulling for Hunter. Just as silky as Jett with a bit of age (wisdom). Deegan is the next big thing. Kid is dedicated to learning, training with whoever he can to be the best. He already overcame a significant wrist injury, and kept grinding. He probably worked harder actually. Haters gonna hate but that kid is the real deal! My two cents…..

Nah... chase hasn't been racing hunter. Without Eli beating on him Chase would already be a multi big bike champ. Then Jett got in his head. He has the speed... just like Forkner. He is just way more durable. Hopefully he can tone down the mistakes and put a good season together

This injury early in his 450 career might not be the worst thing for Jett. Now he knows what’s it’s like to sit and lose a definite championship. I’d hate to be the other guys when he’s back after experiencing this.

I’ve been watching chase since I was 12 he was 14 on the mini and super mini, been wanting him to get a championship for so long now I can’t wait for how this season is gonna turn out, Hunter or Chase it’s gonna be a fight, BUT you never know with motocross it could be neither one… we’ll just have to watch and find out

Hunter will do better than ever because not only will he be getting ALL of the team’s attention, with Jett unable to race he will be coaching Hunter too. However this will give Chase more confidence than ever. Chase already pushes Hunter around like Hunter is in the C class.

@Joe-pb3lx Well, I figured the bar bend was part of your equation. But I wasn't sure if there was something new happening that I hadn't heard about. Yeah, the bends are a little different now than forty years ago. But the chassis is quite a bit different, too. But even back in the day, there were different bends. Yamaha's had antlers on them. Suzuki had really low rise bars. And the Honda's had something in between. Most racers are very particular about how their bars and controls are set up. In this case, I would be surprised if the three guys with thumb injuries have the same bends or control set up. I think at the speeds they're moving, any time they have a get-off, the potential for injuries is really high. Especially when you consider how much time they spend on the bike.

@@bmotomo421 ....right, i was always buying bars to find what felt good to me.....to this day i still have them all......i wish i had the bikes....lol.....i have a 1984 RM125 answer bar....i have a 1985 KX125 answer bar....and a 1986 CR125 answer bar.....i like the Honda CR bend the best today......im almost 65 years old so i ride a 2001 Honda XR200r with full size suspension and the old CR bend feels the best but i did try a KTM bend on it and my thumbs ached and i didnt even ride hard....so i have KTM bars too....lol

Chase handed it to Jett last year then when he got hurt early in the season. Not to mention there were only 4 factory riders, the rest were hurt. Gotta be in it to win it.

Sexton was GIVEN his 1st 450 Supercross Championship and now has a chance to be given a 1st 450 Motocross Championship. Wasn't even his 250 Championship because the leader crashed out as well? Has Sexton ever straight up won a Championship?

Ah I can say I called it. The first semi real injury for Jett. First it was I can't hold on and I'm having to use my legs .... to he gives up and lets Sexton go. To even tho I was hurt I was back on the bike on a Tuesday lol sure dude. I don't think we are getting the full story. The greatest ever has a crash at a place he rides all the time while already having to dial it back due to the initial injury. Sounds legit. Now will see what he's made of when he's back.

For all the people that say Chase has been handed another Championship just continue following SMX he will be so called handed many more championships. You don't have to be the fastest rider but you definitely have to make it through the entire championship without getting injured. Staying healthy is more important than being the fastest. Keep watching SMX and eventually you will learn how most championships are won.
