Evan has such an awesome sense of humor that I don’t even realize he’s rambling..I’m easily entertained..lol. 😂🤪

Naaawww Layla asking 'What is it' with the dining table ☺️ So innocently honest...Sad that she didn't know but cute at the same time. We had my aunt, uncle & cousins (teenagers back at the time) come visit us from the UK. They were shocked we ALL sat together at a big table every meal. We asked where do they eat. They said in their own bedrooms the majority of the time (all different meals) or on the lounge/floor in front of the TV. They loved having meals all together with us. A few weeks after they flew back home they sent us photos.... They bought a 4 seater (very small house) dining table. The photos were of all of them together eating a meal 🥹🇦🇺🇬🇧🇮🇹💖

I actually loved it all! You all are so real and funny and I love anytime we get to see the big family stuff. Some of us don't have those kinds of get togethers anymore for different reasons and it brings back such good memories. Evan, your rambling is always one of the best parts as well 🤣Thank God you all are feeling better too. Nothing to apologize for the vlog was great! 😁👏

Firefighter wife here…….having window ladders for fire safety is vital. Technically you should have one in each bedroom upstairs. My husband has ran calls where they have lost children due to either smoke detectors not working, sleeping with bedroom doors open as well as not having an escape option from the upstairs bedroom because they are trapped inside, unable to get downstairs. I am not trying to scare you but let you know being proactive is so vital. Remember the phrase “Close before you doze” and “stay low and go”. There are videos on KZfaq that firefighters have made that you can watch to see why you should sleep with bedroom doors closed. Also a good idea is a visit to your local fire station so they can go over fire safety. My husband actually has a side business where he goes into peoples homes to show them the best escape route. But that is great that you guys got a window ladder! Pray we all never have to use them but good to have them for the just in case.

Evan, my saying is, " Better to be prepared than dead." Good job buying the ladder. I would try it out and run through a mock escape so Layla (and Carlin) aren't freaked out. Make it fun!

I honestly fell out laughing when Layla said, “What is it?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Bless! But, seriously, the table and chairs are gorgeous and really warm up your downstairs! ❤

Evan, one more item that you need to add to your ladder- a baseball bat. This can be used to break out a window/ windows in case of an emergency. I learned that at a fire safety class several years ago. They also told to us keep one in each bedroom so if you are in a hurry, you don’t have to go looking for one. I keep one next to our bed for that reason. Layla will be really curious at first about the bat, but once you explain that it is just for emergencies only, she won’t even remember it is there. Btw, Layla your cookies looked DELICIOUS!!!

I sure do miss the entire Bates Family. Just love them and their love for each other.

The ladder is a fantastic idea! As the kids grow each one can have one to use if necessary. Good job dad!

Hi from Michigan! I am slightly younger than Carlin's parents. My Grandpa and Dad were firefighters. We had a window ladder. My Dad made us practice fire safety and how to escape a fire. My brothers climbed down the ladder. I refused because I am afraid of heights. I told Dad my fear of fire is bigger than heights so I would clumb down if need be. Layla is young but it is never too soon to teach about fires.

Evan talking is hilarious! He is naturally funny and has a talent to make people laugh! You are to use all of the talents in which the Lord gives you and that is what he is doing!🙂

With that ladder you bought for emergencies, you need to have a plan for everyone to meet at that window in case of emergency. Practice it, that way you're not scrambling to make sure everyone is accounted for

I got a Casetify case for Mother's day the following week I was traveling to N.Y. and my phone fell on the hotel bathroom floor. I was scared to pick it up because I have had that happen before. No cracks what so ever !!!!! I was super impressed.

I got my exhusband a window ladder for his house when divorced when my daughter was 2. Never had to use it but they had it at both houses that he lived in that had 2nd story bedrooms. Glad you are all healing.

This year the flu is more on the rise than COVID has been. I work in Early Childhood and it’s a health hazard just showing up to work every day. My classroom had several kids out with the flu and I caught it too along with other staff members. I’ve been sick since thanksgiving day and started to get better. I went back to work and caught Covid right behind that. Thank God it is a mild case and I am getting better. I’m learning that it doesn’t matter how sick you are, what matters is that you are getting better. You can’t always go by how you feel because that will always change. I hope you and your family get better before Christmas. Love you guys! ❤

Sorry y'all were sick. Hope everyone feels better. The emergency ladder is a very good idea. We have one also, it was actually required when we were licensed for foster care. Thank God we have never had to use it, but it could save lives if there was ever a fire or any kind of emergency.

I love you guys. I miss your show, have been watching all the old episodes. Christmas this year is hard emotionally, my husband of 23 1/2 years died very suddenly a year ago and watching how Evan is with Carlin just reminds me of my husband.

I have been watching The Bates family since the beginning. It broke my heart when the show was cancelled but I am so very happy that you two do these videos. I only live about 45 mins away from Rocky Top and my daughter actually did live there for a little while. I told her to keep her eyes open in case she actually ran into one of the family members.
