Same. I have good memories of that time. Sometimes it's hard to believe we didn't make it but he's a father of three and has a wonderful wife so it worked out well for him. I'm happy for him. :-) I hope you found someone better! I'm happily single.

I married and reproduced with a narcissist, so I was a married single parent... and once his first illegitimate child was discovered I went to the Law Library in Gwinnett county Georgia and did the paperwork for my own divorce. I had two toddlers with me and got it done in 4 hours. Currently in waiting for a worthy King, no rush.🫶🏾✨

I find the good relationships actually don't take much work. If they do, you're probably not with the right person. It should be natural and effortless.

To love is natural and the need to give while being infatuated with the other person should be effortless. But non of us are perfect, we make mistakes, we lose our temper and disappoint the ones we love. My point being that the mindset on both sides need to be based on the ability to grow with each other. Be quick to love and easy to forgive - which can require a lot of patience and willingness to work towards each other’s needs. To say loving the right person should be effortless is very unrealistic and enforces and one sided mindset that our partners should meet our expectations and not deviate from our ideal picture of them - this leaves us with little wiggle room to truly empathize with them and their difficulties. The way people see love theses days are from a very self centered mindset and not from an empathetic point of view. If both partners are willing to work towards one another, and not themselves, that’s only when loving someone becomes a natural sensation.

@@Opethfeldtthis idea that “it should be natural and effortless” is the reason why society is the way it is when it comes to relationships currently. Nothing in life is natural and effortless forever. Everything takes work to maintain over time, especially long term relationships. Most people think that if there are issues instead of solving them they look for greener pastures. Such a shame. It’s actually the solving of the issues over time that creates a strong relationship and bond to one another not a relationship that has no issues and is effortless.

@@neossiss I dated someone for 8 years. It was the most natural relationship imaginable. It was as if we were made for each other. We never had to work on anything, because it just worked. That's what happens when you find someone truly compatible. We did eventually break up, obviously, only because we were going two different directions in life. So no, I disagree that significant work is needed to maintain relationships. Perhaps in relationships where the match isn't as good, but those aren't generally worth the time and effort in my experience.

Also I never said that a relationship should take “significant work” I’m just saying that relationships do take work and if there are issues, going in with the mindset of “it should be effortless” can potentially ruin a lot of relationships that may take a little more work than others. Also I’m not saying you’re relationship wasn’t as good as you say it was, but the fact that you two didn’t last, does to some degree, indicate that you weren’t “truly compatible” because if you were you would’ve lasted. The main issue I’ve found with relationships that have little to no issues is that they become stagnant and lack growth which usually results in both partners “growing apart” because it becomes boring as was seemingly the case with yours but obviously idk if yours was actually like that. In your opinion was your relationship like this since you didn’t experience much issues?
