You do not have to stop as you are loading and unloading the coal cars. Just maintain a speed close to 5mph and it will load and unload the cars automatically. Just like the real railroads do it.

Cool you can use coal cars in this game too awesome I got a new update about a few weeks ago and had some new engines and also got a winter sandbox map but is there any chance I may get coal cars with the next update I play this game because I play it on my phone

Austin the new update is out now and yes there's coal cars and a coal loading station down in Black Valley. And there's a powerplant south of Central yard with a coal unloading facility. There is also a new Shay steam locomotive.
