This is one of my most played albums of all time. I can just listen to this over and over again. Catchy, great lyrics, and chock full of Ian Anderson attitude! Helped me become what I am, especially in my formative years. Five out of five stars!

This is one of my favourite Tull albums mainly because I bought it when it was first released & I was already a big Jethro Tull fan so this album got played a lot. Love the title too, it seemed to resonate with a twenty year old. I hope they reissue this in the deluxe format as I missed out when it was first released. Thanks for the review Phil. :-)

I find a lot of people don't like this album as much but I really like it. Though I will say with this edition there does tend to be too much of the same thing going on regarding the track list and it does not quite offer you as much as most others do in these editions. "Salamander" is one of my all-time favourite Tull acoustic guitar tracks and wish I could get my fingers around it to play it lol. I honestly don't think there is one bad track on this album. Come to think of it I don't believe I have played the Quad mix of this album and will stick that on later today and give it a blast. I had most of these albums on vinyl years ago more or less around the time Songs From The Wood Came out. I don't think there has ever been a year that has passed by without me playing them and I mostly play them around this time in the Autumn and winter for some reason. Another GREAT! review Phil...

Such an amazing album, staggering concept. A personal favorite of mine. John Glascock, there is a bass player for you, an absolute legend; complete musical skills: awe inspiring singer (those backing vocals!), arranger, composer, stage presence, the whole package. He’s up there with the Chris Squiiers, the Greg Lakes, the John Wettons. So young. Bewildering line up, on what in my opinion was a 7 classic album string. These special editions are just magnificent.

My favourite Tull LP. Or possibly joint favourite alongside the MU: Best Of compilation. There are so many good ones to choose from. Anyway, great overview, Phil, as always.

Every one of these Tull videos brings me new important perspective! They should almost just make every proper album from the past in the style of the Tull sets.

This could have been one the best sets due to new sound and bonus material. I really hope the remaining tapes are found so we get a 50th set

I agree with you 100% on this one .. I never liked this album but as all Tull albums .. they always have some tracks to make it worth keeping . . I love the "Small Cigar" " Salamander" and the Shoe Box set makes it more worth it l

I was not keen on the original album. I love this version as the package with the DVD is great. I have played it all.

I wish other classic rock bands would re-release their catalog in this format. Imagine Led Zeppelin albums done up like this!!!

Cherry Gillespie....hmmmm.....she didn't half cause me problems as a lad. Your parents make you put your jammies on so you can stay up to watch TOTP. Cherry moves gracefully onto the screen. Then you have to put a cushion on your lap because...well...because. So you have to ask if you can stay up and watch Are You Being Served ? Until the problem subsides. Then young Mr Grace shuffles on with his secretary, Damn ! 'Can I stay up and watch the news ?' That usually fixed it.

It's not one of their best albums ,but it's not terrible,for me a middle tier record.... don't know why it's not up there for me but compared with some of their other stuff, doesn't quite make it for me.
