As a little old white lady, disabled veteran, my eyes grew wider when I heard him say those words. I thought of my VA retina specialist who is trying to save my eyesight. I thought of Judge Chutkan and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. I thought of my lawyer's partner. I thought of the librarian who helped me get a job. I thought of retired General Lloyd Austin. I thought of Harry Dunn. This person throws out garbage/lies to disrupt, deflect, and misdirect us from the basic facts, but it does show us who he is. The groundskeepers and janitors employed by the New York City Housing Authority are dedicated and hardworking individuals. These jobs are predominantly held by Black workers. It is concerning that both illegal and legal immigrants come to the US to take entry-level jobs from the very people who fought for (civil rights) and whose ancestors died to obtain those jobs. Ask yourself where were the foreigners when Blacks, Negros, Coloreds, and the US had enslaved people.

@@wendyo9030you know as South African I listened to what was said and also I watched a revrand also making some comments to the same effect, in South Africa we have a similar issue with foreigners flooding the work marked and leaving our own citizens jobless, illegal foreigners work for far less money also if we go around we find them owning small businesses, selling items on the street, selling drugs and expired food items and many more. If people don't pay close attention to what is going on and think deep before making hasty remarks the lower income earners will suffer the most, not the doctors, attorneys, scientists or middle income earners.

What are the saddest things about American culture is that the average American reads at somewhere between the fifth grade and the eighth grade level. That means people read at a level that 10 year olds and 13 year olds USED TO be able to read at. When I was in college way back in the 60s, one of my professors revealed to us that the magazine entitled “readers digest” was written for the average American who reads at the level of a 10-year-old. That was in the 60s. It has gotten much worse now. So when Trump speaks, he often uses terminology that the general population relates to. He use shorten terms for what he actually means. One of the functions of high intelligence is the ability to hear what is SAID and extrapolate what is meant and interpreted OBJECTIVELY (which most of the commenters here cannot do) instead of SUBJECTIVELY (which most of them are experts at). So sad. Most Americans will not do their own due diligence and examine both sides of an issue. I did that for myself way back in 2016. That was why I was able to switch my vote from almost voting for someone who would’ve for sure Sold this country down the drain to someone who I know loves this country. I’ve read his books, I’ve listened to conservative radio programs that have had enough guests on who actually KNOW the man, who have WORKED for the man, who have PARTIED and SOCIALIZED with the man long before he entered politics, and who gave PERSONAL ANECDOTES and testimony about things that he’s done to help ( as WELL AS hurt) people. I’ve watched videos that have been presented here on KZfaq of all kinds of things showing how he had -during his administration -rabbis, priests, ministers pray and lay hands on him before he made important decisions as POTUS. I watched video coverage of White House events - WHICH THE MAINSTREAM PRESS REFRAINED FROM COVERING of his meetingS with conservative black college students at the White House, who had to have police escort as they walked along the streets with their MAGA hats on. There was mutual respect, flowing back-and-forth during those meetings. I watch video coverage here on KZfaq (WHICH THE MAINSTREAM PRESS REFRAINED FROM COVERING) of his meeting with various mayors, representatives, community leaders from trouble, Black cities like Baltimore, Maryland in which they asked him to support their efforts to clean up their cities in various ways. He pledge billions of dollars to help them. I didn’t see any mention of it in the mainstream press. But I watched the video footage on KZfaq. I read his books. I know he loves America. He’s not perfect. A “perfect person” ( by that I mean a person without any flaws, faults, or dirt on his hands of any kind.) would not be able to run for president because they would not even WANT the job. We all know that the “black community” is in a ratchet state IN GENERAL. The black professional and high-earner jobs that you mentioned are NOT the most common jobs held by Black people in this country and we ALL know it.

@peterg5383 he’s speaking in dog whistles and even if he wasn’t cognitively lucid he’s still speaking from the heart. I personally think he does know he’s conning. He says MAGA too but never defines what that means so the rubes can fill in the blanks with their deepest desires. He has a coalition of various conservative ideologies behind him and some of theirs goals are not mutually compatible. The vagary helps him be everyone’s friend while not locking him into any particular group so he’s also no one else’s enemy. He takes credit for things they like and then uses plausible deniability to downplay anything contradictory he’s said. Now onto “Black jobs”. When MAGA says get rid of foreigners they don’t mean White Europeans who’ve overstayed their visa. They mean mostly Brown. What jobs are they “taking” (like companies aren’t intentionally hiring them)? A lot of the grunt work most Americans avoid because it’s high risk and/or low pay. Why were Black people brought to America? To do grunt work most “Americans” wanted to avoid. The only thing America has ever wanted from Black folks is cheap labor and obedience and that hasn’t really changed. They want us to accept second class citizenship by hook or crook. They see any Black criminality and/or protest as us not knowing our place and the result of us being in places we shouldn’t without being monitored and managed. They want us to work not vote and do as we’re told. They want us available for entertainment and/or as a sounding board for venting their frustrations. The ideal or “hook” for them is gleeful acceptance. The “crook” part is making any Black protest illegal and severe prosecutions for any infractions so we can be arrested and then used as cheap prison labor, slavery but with extra steps. I hope this clarifies it.

Do you think those opposed to DEI would be upset seeing a majority black cleaner staff? Or grocery worker?, or factory worker? No. To them, black people should be like there were pre 1960s working malign, low wage jobs no one else wants, to be working “hard” while still being poor.

He absolutely deserves whatever karma is coming to him, but this rhetoric has been going on for longer than his family has lived in America. All he did was give people permission to wave their hate flag without fear of repercussions. Oh there are repercussions, but now people who adhere to that rhetoric feel they can claim victim. It’s been a stain on this country for entirely too long! It makes me so relieved to hear someone intelligent and wise calmly speak about what’s really going on. You’re absolutely right! Don’t get distracted. Embrace our uniqueness. Embrace the melting pot of cultures and lifestyles. That is what makes our nation great. We are freedom and all of our uniqueness brings us together in one amazing kaleidoscope. Division breaks the pattern and makes the kaleidoscope less interesting. That’s unacceptable.

They’re not getting in now for the same reason they weren’t getting in before, and it has nothing to do with affirmative action, DEI, or any other buzzword they use to describe POC or poor people who are accepted into prestigious schools. They’re not getting in because of legacy enrollment. Nobody talks about the white students who are accepted into prestigious schools because their parents and grandparents attended the school, or because they made a financial contribution. Doesn’t matter that they didn’t qualify. That’s what I call socially acceptable affirmative action. As a society we envy the rich and powerful, so we don’t question the fact that their children get into the best schools, get jobs at the best companies, or get elected to powerful government positions. Look at the complete morons who are running this country. Many of them attended Harvard or Yale. If you really believe that the likes of Matt Getz earned his way into college and Congress, raise your hand. But people like him will be the first to accuse someone of benefiting from affirmative action.
