Pres. Joe Biden sits down with Dylan Mulvaney to discuss trans rights as part of NowThis' presidential forum. Dylan Mulvaney began documenting her gender transition on TikTok the day she came out to her friends and family. After more than 200 days posting about her experience to her now 8 million followers, she’s learned more about the ways in which her community has been targeted, and has become a committed advocate.

As part of NowThis' 'Make Your Mark' midterms coverage, we hosted an intimate conversation between President Joe Biden and young change-makers focused on finding solutions to some of the most critical issues facing their generation: gun legislation, abortion access, trans rights, economic instability, the climate crisis, and criminal legal reform.
A number of anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced and enacted on the state level in recent months, with many aimed at attacking transgender rights by outlawing gender affirming health care and prohibiting trans kids from playing in youth sports that align with their identity.
In 2018, 19 anti-trans bills were introduced in on the state level across the country, according to a Washington Post analysis of ACLU data. Now, just 4 years later, state legislatures have already introduced 155 bills.
Since taking office, President Joe Biden has signed several executive orders to protect trans rights. These include orders that rolled back the Trump-era ban on transgender military service, combated workplace discrimination policies, and protected transgender youths’ healthcare.
Dylan Mulvaney has publicly been sharing her transition on TikTok with her viral “Days of Girlhood” series. She spoke with Biden at Now This’ Presidential Forum about the right-wing attacks on trans lives and how the administration can better advocate for the trans community.

Imagine being less than one percent of the population, and demanding 99% of its attention. Last time I checked, they have all of the basic rights of a citizen, including the hard fought right to marry. Like if gender is just a social construct, meaning it has no basis in biology and the physical realm, AND anyone can define it, then why why why are so many "trans" doing surgery? Dont they realize that the surgery is pointless? Getting surgery doesnt make you a man or a woman now. Anything can define you as a man or woman. So why get such expensive surgery? @@mayratumanov4446 my mom works at a childrens hospital and by no means are they performing any kind of gender surgery on kids, they will do hormone blockers after extensive therapy and appointments but that is all. Any surgery or testosterone/estrogen shots are put on hold until 18 or longer.

@@mayratumanov4446 nobody says kids can get it, the most they do to kids who aren’t around mid teenage years and above is puberty blockers. and even then, you have to go through many processes to get those, you have to see tons of different types of doctors to confirm you even have dysphoria, then , if you are above the age requirement depending on your state, you can get transitions. it’s a process they won’t give kids, yes kids can transition but not medically. they don’t let kids transition medically, only socially and small changes like haircuts and for younger teenagers binders.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines child as, "A human being below the age of 18 years". In other words a minor. There is a general understanding in medicine that the brain doesnt finish developing until about the age of 25. So laws regarding what is considered a minor currently vary between 18-21 and even car rental policies want to see development of 25 years of age to qualify for services if you want to look at it from a financial liability standpoint.
