On 6 February 1988, when our NRA adopted formal military ranks, the chief guest was Maj. Gen. Juvenal Habyarimanah, President of Rwanda. As he watched, Fred Gisa Rwigyema who would later command RPF against Habyarimanah, also became a major general in the NRA. Strange but true!

Habyarimana was about to run away, he looked so shocked and surprised we the name Rwigema was read out.
