I had the good fortune of learning Carnatic music in the Oothukadu style which she mentions in the video, right under a direct descendant of Oothukadu Venkatasubba Iyer, Oothukadu Sri. Muthukrishnan, one of the Oothukadu brothers. Unfortunately, with his early demise, a treasure trove of 1000s of compositions have been lost forever. We, his students and other musicians may be knowing a few hundreds. And also sadly, many beautiful original compositions are being distorted and the whole tune changed. The standing example being Vishamakkara kannan. The one sung by Smt. Sudha Raghunathan is the correct one very near to the original. The other versions used in dance mostly is a complete distortion.
