of course its not an excuse, but when someone grows surrounded by negativity, guilt and shame, it will develop into selfhatred and trauma. If you dont heal that pain, or never learn to love, your mind will turn to anger, emptiness and that leads to loss of empathy and you just don't feel feelings like a normal person anymore. Not getting love during childhood can really mess everything in your mind up. Of course what he did was so evil and he is a messed up disgusting person. I'm just trying to say, if his childhood wouldve been different, he probably wouldve turned out different

Father was absent, didn’t see Brievik from age 1 to age 6:( We understand how father was a bz diplomat with financial privledges yet in old age he continues to be self absorbed still blaming his troubled young son for never being in contact w him the adult. The father didn’t try very hard for custody esp after Social Services reports of trouble😢, said there was no reason explained for him losing custody. Father’s self interest about what he’s dealing with bad pr of his son’s murdering spree does not compare to all the deceased victims and their families. Father’s and mothers BOTH should be held responsible for nurturing their offspring into responsible children to adults. No excuse for his violent behavior but Brievik may also have had dyslexia (difficulty reading, taking instructions & knowing Left from Right) as underlying disability, wouldve explained his withdrawal in schools and later serious driving difficulties. Let’s put technology down after this tragic lesson, pay closer attention to our children, help them grow to be healthy responsible adults & enjoy their one beautiful life.

I can't believe how many excuses the 'father' makes for his complete failure of being a parent. Failure would imply he tried, but truthfully he made ZERO effort to connect with his son. The only contact ever made was when he received a letter from CPS or when Anders called him or visited. It's unbelievable. If a close relative of mine had committed an unspeakable act I would be on the first plane to whevever they were, to look them in the eye and understand what happened, at the very least show them they have some support in this world. Monster or no monster, it's his own flesh and blood and till this day he still hasn't spoken to him about what happened. I don't think Anders was ever shown love. The fact he had to write on a sheet of paper instead of feeling secure or close enough to trust and talk to people around him says it all.

If you would support your son after he committed mass murder there is something wrong with you. The father is in a horrible position and I completely understand his wish to have as little as possible to do with his son

@@espen4330 I would 100% support my son through absolutely anything, whilst *NOT* supporting his actions or crime. I would explain the reasons as to why I disagreed with him and why I believed his actions were wrong. I would try to understand why he would do such a thing and look into ways of helping him change his point of view by putting forward my arguments. If according to you this means there is something wrong with me, then there is also something wrong with any form of rehabilitation centre or initiative. Or should we simply put everyone down the minute they fuck up in your opinion?

Millions of people grow up without a father or a mother or both. But they don't go chase after kids with weapons and kill them, absolut horror. And they don't go blow up buildings and kill people. There is NO excuse for doing what he did. That does not take away how useless his father is. But the dead beat father does not have blood on his hands. Anders made this decision all by himself.
@annefrank7005

@@karinordmann2939 Being an orphan does not mean you are not shown love or have not grown up with love. Many people are raised by grandparents, family members or foster parents therefore from a very young age develop social skills and empathy towards other humans are shown love, acknowledgement etc. What Anders did is detestable 100% agree, but if he was never shown love and empathy he never learnt what it was and is incapable of understanding that what he has done is wrong. For that, his useless parents are very much to blame, not exlusively, but they have a huge accountability and for them to deny this is cowardly and pathetic. We understand his actions are wrong because we were taught to feel emotions. Anders was never.

The dad stepped up 100% you dork, he went to trial when the kindapped boy was only 4 years, but the judge sentenced 77 people to death by trapping him with the abusive mother. He did more than you would have done, and had 0% responsibility after the judge came with the verdict. The father was strong enough, but Norway’s gender discrimination of fathers was and still is the problem.
